Galaxy S8 battery life test, Snapdragon vs Exynos edition: a familiar tale

The Samsung Galaxy S8 has the same battery capacity as its predecessor the S7, but lasted longer when we ran it through our standardized battery benchmark. Since both phones come with the same power-hungry high-res displays, we can chalk the better endurance off to the more frugal Snapdragon or Exynos chipsets of the S8. After all, they are made with the newest 10nm production node, compared to their 14nm siblings in the S7...

I don't know Techie came free with PhoneArena. Definitely didn't see him included in the pre production package.

Need to retest your results because the S7 got 2 days of life. According to a expert. So if S8 is getting better results but not a 2 day battery. The math not working out. Could you please retest again? Thank you.

Too bad Canada didn't use the Exynos again like it did with the GS7. Sigh. Oh well. SD835 is fine.

Can't wait for you to give you opinion, and your battery test, at least it will be a real opinion and real test ; )

Sure to piss of a few, but it'll be unbiased, and 100% true. If I tell you to buy it...buy it. If I tell you not to...don't. My hands on time in store, with pre production units, has been absolutely amazing.

The battery life tests on Phonearena a very inaccurate, in real life tests the S8+ easily beats the iphone 7 plus. And the new batteries of the S8/S8+ have a much longer shelf life with less detoriation and retain 95% of their original capacity even after 1-2 years of recharging, compared to 80% of other phones. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yMC_zo_Ge3w

PA, why do not you listen to the feedback of your users who are complaining about your battery tests? You can't expect to earn ad revenue from disgruntled users who, due to being pissed by you PA, do have your site blacklisted. You guys aren't doing yourselves any favor.

I'll be attending a 2 day rock/metal concert at the end of the month with my new S8+. I'll show a real world usage with heavy camera and other "real world' stuff, not a useless script.

I'll.wait for other sites to chime in like Anandtech and Phonescoop as they tend to be more realistic.

Qualcomm has seriously stepped up its game this year. There is no difference in speed now between the Exynos/Snapdragon S8 and the battery life difference is due to Samsung better optimizing the software for its Exynos chips, not a hardware difference.
