0. phoneArena posted on 05 Nov 2013, 02:56

The elusive Nokia Lumia 525 music-centric sibling of the most popular Lumia was expected to be announced at Nokia World, but it has apparently been left for a later date. Now the full specs list of the upcoming Lumia 525 has leaked from China (where else), and the handset seems to essentially be the 520, but with 1 GB of RAM upgrade, instead of the 512 MB stick in the predecessor...

Then it will cost much more.

You can buy Lumia 620 because its now cheap after price reductions.

There are android phones with flash and a front facing camera for half the price of the lumnia 520. Cost is no excuse, they're $0.50 parts.

But the performance of even Low end lumia easily trumps them for being smooth and nimble.

Can you please link to an $50 android phone with a front facing camera and a flash? I'd love to buy one.

May as well buy the Moto G that offers way more then this phone has to offer, plus you get 65gb of Google drive storage. Not to mention you get a front facing camera and a rear camera flash. Something that the lumia 52x never had.

i would actually forego the extra RAM to get a flash on this thing! that would make it COMPLETE!

this is not android, WP8 runs fluid even with 1GB ram...yes, more will be better, but for that price - it is definitelly more worth than any other android in that price level.

1 gb ram with such an affordable device???!...since this is wp, this means this device will have access to every single app and game in windows phone store. this device is 10 more dangerous to the competition than the 520 was as this device will have literally the same accessibility to apps and games as highend flagship phones.
it seems that microsoft and Nokia r alot smarter and two steps ahead of google. while google is still in the process of optimizing android for 512 mb ram devices with kitkat (ironically old 1 gb ram phones won't get kitkat including google's own galaxy nexus), Microsoft and Nokia already done that a year ago with WP8 and devices like 620,520 and now Microsoft and Nokia is so near to make low end devices just as similarly good as flagships in terms of apps and games(and with games , i mean heavy graphic consuming games) with the only differentiation between devices in general is hardware and features like camera, screen size, screen resolution , material of built, glance screen, techs like pureview and clearblack...etc but not user interface or apps/games accessibility . Well Done Microsoft and Nokia!!!!

Exactly! To all those who complained about how Microsoft was ditching the WinPho 7.5 early adopters by making WinPho8, at least they adjusted and released WinPho7.8.

No word yet from the great 'Open to all' Android on doing the same to its own Google Devices from just a couple years ago.

phones that got 7.8 were less than a year old. gnex is more than 2 years old. i'm pissed at google for not updating it but no comparison can be made here. just saying.

Think about what you said. If it has access to every app, then that mean that every app is at least sub par. You make it sound like 1gb is a lot. My $79 android tabled has 1gb of ram and runs jellybean. Android is not focusing on devices that are "too"old. With Kitkat, it really is going to push toward the new low end phones. Its looking forward. Not backwards.

apparently , u don't have much background about wp.
On android , apps , games and even user experience depend on lots of factors other than ram...for example a galaxy s3 with 1 gb ram is light years ahead of galaxy core with also 1 gb ram , the difference is because android devices needs better hardware overall(screen resolution as some games r HD-and-above exclusive, processor, GPU and ofc RAM) to run better overall (expnyos 4 on the s3 vs the very weak snapdragon 200) . now imagine a heavy graphics consuming game running on both devices, the galaxy core won't be able to run the game while the galaxy s3 will be on full throttle.
On WP, things r different ....everything software wise is kinda identical on all device from low to high (apps , games and user experience...that's why 520 is currently the best low end smartphone) regardless of hardware with some exceptions of heavy apps and games that r left to 1 gb ram and above devices (regardless of other factors ). now with low end phones like 525 having a 1 gb ram, every single app will on WP store will run on device ranging from the super lumia 1520 and 929 to the end of spectrum ; lumia 525.... this makes Microsoft and Nokia the first to bridge and unify software user experience across all smartphones from high to low. Impressive

Well yeah. 1gb of ram on that crappy little 4" low resolution screen. Although, the reason why windows could run every app is because all of the apps focusing on the low end stuff instead of any their high end stuff. That's good for the people that have their low end phones, but people that are going to buy the 929 are going to be left with games that are made to run on the 520.

Oh, and it seems the only thing they updated from the 520, is the processor itself and maybe the form. Threw in a free bluetooth because of it. It's still sporting the same screen... and if its like the 520, it will be $150-$180 at launch.

Idk. To me, it seems like they are going to be making more profit on this one.

It will probaby be the same price as the previous 520. The only thing they updated was the processor and threw in the bluetooth.

It only costs a couple dollars or maybe less to make the thing.
It doesnt have any memory or anything in it. Bluetooth accesories are cheap now.

You can find the 520 on sale for $80 now. They are going to be making good profits off of these, but I think theyre interested in the users.

they release goood looking phones but there is no different between them when it comes to software. I think they should add new software features like android phones. and ofcourse microsoft have to be quick bcuz wp is way behind from android and ios. Most of the customers and me doesnt buy lumia bcuz of software.hope 2014 brings more success to nokia

I bought the 520 for my mom and good lord, I love the device, and how it felt, I have not tried it out but it seem smooth, the navigation features top of the line....only thing that was missing on this phone was flash other then that, I would not mind buying a 520 for a back up for when I get a 1520, I usually like to have a back up phone just in case something happen to my phone, I understand unexpected things can happen...

Hahahah I like the fact that for the most part the Android & Apple trolls are mostly tight lipped on this one. Microsoft & Nokia are slowly bring the heat. They are making steady gains.

Also is it me or did anyone miss the fact that Microsoft mobile office app is now the most downloaded app for both Android & Apple.

Makes you wonder if they hate so much why use any of Microsofts products or services. Trolls are such hypocrites. HAHAhahahahaha
