Front, back, or sides - where do you prefer your phone's finger scanner to be?

Samsung has apparently been toying around with different shapes and placements for the fingerprint scanner, recent patent applications suggest. While now it has it embedded in the physical home key underneath the display, its patents include both changing the shape, and relocating the scanner altogether to the back of the phone...

I would prefer back and front. Why can't they come out with multiple fingerprint detectors? When I am holding my phone back is awesome. When It's on the table the front would be best.

On the side offcourse. You have to pick up the phone and you can and will grab it on the side and so simultaneously unlock it.

Back with both index fingers registered. When I pick up my phone, that's where my finger is - no need to stretch - and a raised rim (like my Nexus 5x) means I can find it immediately without looking 100% of the time. No contest.

FPS on the front, back and side are all good because it all depends on your finger length, if you have small hand(short fingers) and like phablets then you would want it on the front but if you have large hands(long fingers) then the FPS on the back would be for you. if you like regular size phones say 5in then small hand FPS on back, large hands on the side.

....... Considering a lot of the readers are Apple/Samsung loyalists. From preference isn't surprising.

That patent diagram looks exactly like the back of the Moto Atrix from 2011... the fingerprint 'swipe' (instead of the 'tap') and the location of the camera and flash.

On the back side, you have to pick up the phone anyway to use it misty of the time, so it on the back make more sense

On the front, in the home button. I'm not saying it's the best placement, but it's what I'm used to.
