Fring temporarily kicks out Skype access as it buckles under the pressure
With the over 1.7 million iPhone 4 owners out there, we'd imagine that a good chunk have probably downloaded the latest version of Fring that enables them to start doing Skype video calls to other users on their handsets. Almost similar to what was witnessed with Qik and the HTC EVO 4G during its first days on the market, Fring has temporarily reduced support to Skype in order to free up capacity for Fring-to-Fring video calling. They've reported that they've seen a huge spike in Fring video calling after they released an update to their app that added 2-way video calling to iOS 4. On the back end, we'd imagine that they're doing what they can to accommodate the rash of usage among users, so we're optimistic that they'll eventually bring back Skype support sometime soon; hopefully.
