Flight arrives late after joker names his inflight Wi-Fi connection
One recent Virgin America flight was delayed after crew members discovered that someone had named their inflight Wi-Fi connection "Samsung Galaxy Note7_1097." The captain announced over the loudspeaker that this was not a joke and that everyone's bag would be searched on the plane, which was heading to Boston from San Francisco.

It took a threat from the pilot, who announced that he was going to divert the plane to Wyoming, before the culprit revealed himself and his phone. The pilot announced to the passengers what had occurred. "Ladies and gentlemen, we found the device. Luckily, only the name of the device was changed to 'Galaxy Note 7'. It was not a GN7." In other words, it was a renamed SSID (done as a joke) that caused the plane to land late in Boston. One passenger even took a screenshot of the inflight Wi-Fi connections from his laptop.

The crew was forced to go under the assumption that a Samsung Galaxy Note 7 was being used in the middle of the flight, and had to act accordingly. We can't imagine how someone might find doing this to be humorous; to make matters worse, the joker apparently got off without even receiving a slap on the wrist.

It's not ''(done as a joke)'' It was planned plot by iMore's scammers. All three of them: The guy that renamed SSID, The person that play the part of 'finding it' and ''freaking out'' loudly, And the person from iMore that reported it as a ''casual witness'' This ''story'' was few days ago in BGR.

This is old story, Scam made by iMore's scammers, to serve the media. Shame on them, to arrange such BS plot on plane.! It's getting desperate and pathetic. Still no Note7 ''exploded'' after the ban, and that's not good. Right? LOL

Probably you should go to Samsung's headquarters in Korea, douse yourself in gasoline and set yourself ablaze to protest the cruel and unjust treatment the Note 7 has received.

Nobody is scamming anybody, it was just a joke. Or is it illegal to name a WIFI connection after a defunct smartphone now?

You're failing to understand that the scam Klinton is talking of means this whole incident was staged in other to be reported as news. Don't you know that news corporations do pay money to be the first to get informed of a breaking news? Especially the kind of breaking news that will boost sales or generate alot of clicks. The scam Klinton spoke of could well be legit.

'Not everything is a conspiracy' Agree. But this smells. In this article is not mentioned that 'journalist from iMore' was on the right place at the right time. Why is not mentioned?

When I get on, I will name mine..."I_M_A_MUSLIM_TERRORIST and see how that goes...maybe people will find that funny too?! Yet no one on the plane said nothing. Yet to Arabic guys on a plane speaking their own language, somehow offended 20 ignorant white people and they were escorted off the plane for no reason whatsoever! They should have been stomping the head off this guys shoulders.
