Fitbit Charge 3 officially unveiled with touchscreen display, but no built-in GPS
After a couple of leaks indicating that Fitbit plans to launch a new fitness tracker, the company announced today the upcoming availability of the Fitbit Charge 3 – “the number one fitness tracker.”
Just as we reported last week, Fitbit Charge 3 improves on the previous fitness tracker in the fact that it now features a touchscreen display. However, it does not include built-in GPS, so you'll still be forced to have the Charge 3 paired with a phone for its most advanced features to work.
On the bright side, Fitbit Charge 3 has “an elevated, premium swimproof design,” as well as more than 15 goal-based exercise modes. Talking about the new touchscreen display, Fitbit says that it's about 40 percent larger than brighter than its predecessor's.
Also, Fitbit Charge 3 is supposed to be the first wearable device to feature an inductive button. The battery inside the fitness tracker should offer up to 7 days of use, while the addition of a relative SpO2 sensor should allow for the potential to estimate changes in blood oxygen levels and help track new health indicators.
Fitbit Charge 3 is already available for pre-order in the United States for $149.95, while global retail availability should start in October. The fitness tracker comes in black with a graphite aluminum case or blue gray with a rose gold aluminum case. A Fitbit Charge 3 Special Edition with Fitbit Pay will also be available for purchase for $169.95.
