First responders can get solid discounts on their personal Verizon plans now
Verizon came under (metaphorical) fire back in August for what the carrier described as a “customer support mistake”, making it that much harder for emergency personnel to fight literal wildfires in California.
But after already apologizing for the unfortunate throttling incident and vowing to lift all data consumption restrictions on “public safety” customers in disastrous events, Big Red is going one step further in showing its appreciation to first responders nationwide.
Starting now, all “these brave men and women” who constantly put their lives on the line for the greater good are eligible for some decent discounts on their personal Verizon Unlimited plans.
Obviously, in order to qualify for the newly unveiled deals, you’ll need to provide appropriate documentation either in a physical store or directly in your My Verizon account. This special offer is good for volunteers and retirees in addition to regular, active-duty state & local police, fire, and EMS employees, which is almost unusually generous of Verizon.
After presenting the necessary documents and earning approval to register for this program, first responders can get Go Unlimited service for $30 per line per month for four lines, down from a regular price of $40 per line per month, amounting to a cool savings of $40.
Verizon also allows its subscribers to mix and match different types of unlimited plans, which can result in a maximum discount of $15 per line, $35 for two lines, and $40 off three or more lines for first responders and their family members. Just be aware of (occasional) throttling and various other restrictions that routinely apply for personal Verizon accounts.
