"Nokia's official stance is that it expects to ship WP handsets "in volumes" by 2012."

Add a year or two to that.

The issue with Nokia in releasing devices has been the software issues. Now that has been handled mainly by MS you can pretty much expect devices when they claim they will be released. Plus Elop has already made it a point to announce closer to release date, so expect a more pristine announcement and release schedule with WP7

ya... by then the iphone 5 (and possibly the smaller cousin) will have set into to the entire globe and nokia will have lost its wp7 advantage in the dry iphone stages

I think Nokia is trying to purposely fail, this way it makes it easier for Microsoft to buy them. A guy from Microsoft was put in a position of power as President and CEO of Nokia, of course he was gonna nix Symbian and adopt WM7.

Then the stock drops lower and lower until it's cheap, that's why they're waiting until October of this year to possibly release a Nokia WM7 phone. And when they're released, they'll flop. The stock will be even lower, and then Stephen Elop will propose that they sell Nokia to Microsoft and by then the company will be so in the whole they'll have no choice but to sell to Microsoft.

HP now has Palm, Apple makes the iPhone, HTC makes a majority of the Android phones (Google should just buy them already), RIM has Blackberry. Of course Microsoft wants their own manufacturer for their own phone OS and what better than buying one that's going under?

I never thought of that!
That actually makes sense but WP7 (Not WM7) is still a good software. I've liked it since I've had it. Nokia will be much better under WP7 and Microsoft but Symbian, specially the touch and type phones, will be missed. I don't think their touch screen phones will be missed though, they aren't very good.

I thought the same thing. It's unfortunate too because I feel Nokia would do so well with Meego I seriously think they should at least give it a chance. I am not happy with any of Elop's moves.

Nokia should release before the upcoming iPhone and Android OS phones.
They should not underestimate timing factor.

No way, Nokia will loose, using WP requires more processor speed and memory like on pcs.. I will buy a HTC with Android, that runs really fast. Sorry Nokia you lost a client.

I dont care. I like Lg & am perfectly happy with my Quantum. As long as Microsoft keeps the Ui up to date that's what matters

Nokia, priority number one: satisfy your customers, not Microsoft

This announcement by Nokia regarding to the first shipments of WP handsets is a non-event. What we should ask is, when can we expect new handsets from Nokia in stores, even with Symbian3 on it. I already mentioned in other blogs that it is a high priority for the existence of Nokia to introduce new handsets the very soonest and/or with a new, fresh and astonishing upgrade of its Symbian3 platform in the beginning of the second quarter of 2011 in the retail stores.

How hard can this be Nokia. You got all the greatest talent in marketing, innovation, plus not to mention, the money, the millions, the billions. (Otherwise, let's also put it this way, thus from a business point of view (you know, business principles), think about the great ROI you can make, right now the market is hot and booming). There are a lot of great quality handsets and great quality of User Interfaces (UI) and Operating Systems (OS) from other manufacturers. Nokia, take an example from it. Again, that cannot be a hard task for you, as a number one handset manufacturer of the world.

Nokia, it is your number one priority to satisfy your customers, not to drop them. Again, as i mentioned in others blogs, come with specific dates and it is important for you Nokia to come up with ....something... very soon. PUT THE PRESSURE ON IT.

So, for now, just forget about Microsoft if you really want to built a long term relationship with them.
