First Pixel 3 Night Sight mode sample images reveal incredible results
The Google Pixel 3 XL

Much like the Pixel 2 series that preceded it, the Pixel 3 line already produce some of the best images when it comes to mobile photography. However, at the official unveiling event, Google confirmed that another feature called Night Sight mode would eventually roll out to the new devices in the hope of taking things a step further.

To show off the feature, the internet giant compared an image taken on the Pixel 3 with Night Sight mode enabled to one taken on the iPhone XS. The results were amazing and even raised some eyebrows due to the drastic difference. Yesterday, as we reported, an update was rolled out to the Google Camera app that essentially ported over the Pixel 3’s version to the Pixel and Pixel 2 devices. While Night Sight isn’t officially available, the feature could be found within the code and was tested out by the folks over at XDA Developers.

It’s worth keeping in mind that, as this is still an unreleased feature, the software could be improved further ahead of its launch, which means results could be better too. But from the state of the feature at the moment, it’s clear that Google’s own comparison was no exaggeration. In scenes where the sun is clearly setting, the Night Sight feature produces a photo that looks as if it was taken during the day. Perhaps more impressively, though, are the results taken at night. In scenes that would typically be extremely dark, the Night Sight feature works its magic and creates an image with unbelievable amounts of color.

Right now, Night Sight is expected to roll out during the month of November, although Google is yet to confirm the exact date. In the meantime, though, you can check out a bunch of sample images below.
