Company/product history, modding friendly, sense, keeping competition. Why do you still post on phonearena?

I don't think it's unfair to ask what people find compelling about any given company. Granted that question could've been phrased better, but it certainly is not an invalid thing to ask.

I believe the phrasing qualified for both a legit and equally flippant answer. I try to take into account english isn't everyone's first language on PA, but that isn't obviously the case here. I wouldn't expect to stop into a sony post and ask the same thing and get friendly reasonable response, especially if I already have near 700 posts under my belt. Anyone of these articles is also full of people talking about what they like/dislike, want on the new phone/don't want on the new phone.

Very true. Couldn't agree with you more.

How come finger print sensors aren't more oval, like the actual shape of a finger or thumb? Seems like there isn't a lot of creativity in the design process these days...

Good point. Many manufacturers are using simple circular shape in their architecture which obviously makes the manufacturing process easier, but they still charge 600+ for the device. Ate up.

So you want the device to be retailed at a lesser price for you just because it's more convenient? Don't forget that there's multiple operating costs that go into maintaining the organization and processes that produces these devices. You need to invest in research and development when creating the concept of the device and figuring out how to build it what components to use, you need to pay designers to actually draft what the phone will look like and engineers tasked with fitting all the components and constructing the device into a chassis. You need to also compensate contractors in most cases, whose assembly plants have dozens of employees working on a line to assemble the devices together. Then you have the marketing division, you have pay marketing directors and various other employees to advertise the device, as they conceive of ideas and concepts for getting the word out or making the device as appealing as possible. Then you actually have to pay localization fees and export fees to have these devices shipped globally. Let's not get into any potential patent licensing fee agreements pay among others they have a contractual agreement with. It's not really so hard to understand why the MSRP of the price is a few times higher than the base assembly material of components that comprise a finished product.

Button placement the same way as the M9? Does HTC not read reviews? Pretty sure everyone complained how the power button was in an awkward place and that they should have moved the volume rockers to the other side to move up that power button.

oh they do..but it's full of fanboys who don't even have the phone calling it great..so they never know what the problems with their devices are

I want the X9 with snapdragon 820. Perfect phone. This looks like a piece of crap. No dual front speakers. Time for chapter 7 bankruptcy...

Thanks HTC, for making this phone so bad I don't even have to wait for its unveiling. LG G-5 it is then.

im really hoping that HTC will come up for a better bolder design than the HTC A9. which is a clear copycat! HTC one phone are great phone in their own right. its just that, ads sucks and the camera upgrade went from good to ok to bad!

The bezels are thinner than the current iphone so that's win in my book, considering apple and htc are known for huge bezels.

Remove the HTC bar and fix the camera is all that was wrong with it. Adding fingerprint scanner, larger battery, new processor and RAM made it perfect. But why would they kill the stereo speakers! It has to be perfect for them to make a comeback.

They probably had to kill the speakers to get rid of the bar

I hope that the fingerprint scanner also acts as a home button, and that it has capacitive keys. On-screen buttons are a waste of screen space.
