0. phoneArena posted on 18 Jun 2013, 08:21

Pod2g of Evasi0n jailbreak fame took to Twitter yesterday to complain that after a few days testdriving iOS 7, he is almost ready to switch to Android because of bugs, crashes, battery life, lack of new features and 'kid painting' design...

I hope so but from what I've seen of the changes Google has been making to its apps, I probably won't upgrade from Jelly Bean. What I mean is the design choices for its apps. They are moving towards a what I feel overly simplistic style. Take the redesigned Play store layout, or the YouTube and Google music's removal of their cool carousel effect and switch to white backgrounds with their card style layouts. They are going for a design unity (apps are switching to a Google Now layout), which I feel works for some apps but not others. I wish they'd have a black background option for those of us with amolded screens aand like it better.

I also like the new iOS design, I think it looks really good, at least in the pics. A ctually using the device for a while my opinion may change but first impression is good

"iOS 7 design is awful, it’s slow, battery life time is the worst ever, it’s full of UI bugs and crashes. OK it’s beta 1, but still… I am pretty disappointed by the features I’ve seen in iOS 7. No revolution here. No big news. Just kid painting."
No one can't deny about that XD

actually, apple would like his decision because they don't like apple devices to be jailbroken...but there are many great jailbreakers
i think pod2g is foolish, he must have felt that its difficult to jailbreak ios 7...so he moved to android, because a jailbreak can change the look and features of ios...so that can't be an excuse...
talking about bugs, ios 6 beta 1 was more buggy...the final version of ios 7 will be fine
and please...ios 7 is good and much better than any other version of ios....ios 6 was the worst ios update ever, why didn't he leave ios at that time
talking about android, ios 6 was nothing when compared to JB, he didn't move to android at that time....now ios 7 has drastically improved ios....ios is really good now and its definitely a good update from the boring ios 6

He's actually sourgraping that he failed to hack ios7 even in the beta version, so instead he will switch to android hacker...

Of course, he's promoting android because he is hacker, I also wish cydia and other team switch to android as well :)

most of them will stay...and its a good think because jailbreak allows the user to do whatever he wants and jailbreak can be removed by restoring the idevice...its not premanent...
its always good to have an option to jailbreak your idevice

"actually, apple would like his decision because they don't like apple devices to be jailbroken..."

Some people just won't buy iPhone if there won't be a possibility to jailbreak it and that's mean Apple will lose group of customers who loves to jailbreak their devices, I don't think that Apple will like that.

Also if Apple doesn't like that people jailbreak their devices, then why they don't put any effort to increase security? I have read many talks that Apple is not increasing security level agains jailbreaking on purpose.

they have been increasing the security and they have hired many hackers for the same...that's the reason why jailbreaking voids apple's warranty...
they have always tried to convince the users that jailbreaking damages their idevices...

ios 6.1.3 update made pod2g's ios 6 jailbreak useless....

So what? It doesn't mean that security level was increased, it just shows that previous method doesn't work anymore.

removing the jailbreak was one of the main reasons for rolling out the ios 6.1.3 update...
apple is trying to make it illegal...isn't that enough...
there may be a few people who buy the idevices only because it can be jailbroken but you should not forget that apple can loose billions due to app/games piracy and free access to paid services
developers are apple's biggest strength, apple can't afford to disappoint them.

"...there may be a few people who buy the idevices only because it can be jailbroken but you should not forget that apple can loose billions due to app/games..."

I understand that but remember that Games or Apps doesn't cost so much as iPhone (at least in the Asia or Europe) so Apple still earn more money from devices and original accessories.

there are very few people who buy an iphone to jailbreak it
yes, its more expensive but if the number is small, then its useless...
they can't loose the developer's trust for a few extra customers...
had they encouraged jailbreaking, why would they release updates to fix the exploits, why would they warn the users that jailbreak voids the warranty and why would they refuse to repair a damaged iphone if its jailbroken?
why do they persuade the govt to make jailbreaking illegal?

I don't agree that there is just a "few' people, there is many people who would not buy IPhone or iPad if there was no possibility to jailbreak it. If there is only "few" people who jailbreak theyr iPhones and ipads, then why internet is full of talks, questions, pictures, videos, tutorials and other stuff about jailbreaking, why there is so many different stuff for jailbroken devices? Also statistics in pod2g blog proves that there is huge interest in jailbreaking.

I'm sure that on one had jailbreaking is unfavorable but on the other hand is jailbreaking is useful for Apple. That's why Apple fight agains jailbreaking but does it without overdo.

apple hates jailbreak, even the developers hate it...
apple doesn't look at the no. of devices sold and apple has already lost that race to samsung and android...
now apple's biggest strength is their control over apple's users and the developer's support and preference to ios...
jailbreaking frees the user from apple's control and the developers will leave apple...
there is an interest in jailbreak but that doesn't mean that the idevices are bought only for that...
jailbreaking an ipad is now illegal, then why do people buy the ipads?...
the carriers hate jailbreak because the users will choose the cheapest plan and use another carrier for their requirements...
many people like jailbreak but they won't stop buying idevices if there is no jailbreak available...
USA is the biggest market for apple, no other market is even close to it...and carriers help the americans in buying the apple products, apple would like to have good relation with the carriers...
carriers didn't even accept facetime over cellular for a long long time and if apple stops fighting against jailbreak its an end game for them even in the USA
the ios 7 update also proves that apple is adding more stuff and they are trying to make the jailbreak more useless...
if there is no jailbreak, then apple will get more exclusive apps and games, their revenue will increase...people will start saying that ios is the safest, carriers will support apple more than any other company because they could force the users to take more expensive plans...apple will start running ads that ios is so safe that it can't be hacked...
it would also increase the no. of sales because you have to get new phones and tablets every year to get newer features...if the jailbreak exists, then you can get those features on older devices via cydia...
so apple will never support jailbreaking

i can't give you more explanation...
seriously, we have spent too much time on all this...
if you are one of those people who wants the conversation to end with their comment, then i am okay with it because i am not one of those people...
if u disagree with me, i can't do much about it, i just said what is true...i think spending more time on this would be useless...

The writer has a point, you can't expect Apple to change the direction of the cellular industry every year. It's a decent update. Sure the UI isn't for everyone, but what more can you expect? They can't please all the people all the time. That's what Android, BB and others are for.

Surprise... you add real multitasking and some Android features to iOS and it lags! ;) And it doesn't even have everything Android has (like widgets)...

I am simply tickled pink with the new rainbow design; it takes me back to a place when I was a little girl growing up on a farm with my aunt and uncle. These so-called bugs, crashes and lags on the iOS 7 Beta version he tested is, well, expected; every major release of iOS initially has its' share of bugs, crashes and lags but, even though we all gripe at first, we all ultimately accept it because that's what we've grown accustomed to. Dear Mr Pod2g, really, I am disappointed with your infantile rant; I would think you, of all people, would be used to these so-called initial iOS glitches by now. By all means, switch to Android and leave the Rainbow to its' true disciples.

I'll make it easy for you (as someone who was unfortunate to use iOS 4.0 -> 6.0):

This is what iOS7 looks like:

the bugs on IOS7 are intolerable. it is a beta so i guess they can get away with that, but imagine you are an Apple user who tried those features that should've been on your high end super duper iPhone long ago but now you have to wait until next fall to be able to experience it. that's not mention that those features are already on Android devices since ICS. so you are really torturing yourself for "catch up" features.
