Essential Camera app gets another much needed update, here are all the changes

The Essential Phone is not necessarily a bad device, but it had some software issues at launch. Some of these problems have been corrected in the meantime, but there's one thing that requires a bit more time – camera.

Coming as a separate accessory, the Essential Camera “benefits” from a UI and app that needs a lot of work just to reach the same level of quality of a standard flagship smartphone.

It appears that Essential understood that and released a couple of updates for the Essential Camera app, which adds some new features and corrects many issues.

The latest update brings 60fps support for mono video recording and improved OTA flow for 360 Camera updates. Early adopters will also notice some minor UI improvements, but also many stability fixes. The latest version of the Essential Camera app is already available for download via Google Play Store.

I second that. I've been looking at this phone. I returned my iPhone X (after playing with it for awhile...since I couldn't sell it), but realized I like the size of the device. The essential phone could meet that in hand feel......if the camera works now.

The only compelling thing about Essential is its price, else it's got nothing. Not looks, not design, not function, nothing. None of the hype Rubin tried to generate for this ho-hum product worked. I doubt there'll be a sequel. Besides, this is a version 1.0 phone which is basically a beta product. They need to pay me to beta test, I don't pay them.

@ramdroid. "everyone else thinks it does have a stellar design amazing screen great built quality and battery and vanilla android" LOL! You and a couple guys in this thread is hardly "everyone else". This phone's ultra sucky camera app is STILL buggy as hell even after its millionth update fixes. It's also too small, needs to be phablet size to be of any real use. This junky phone should be sold for $350 at most right now. I bet you can probably pick it up on Ebay for $250 in 6 months.

The Essential phone with a decent camera is the real iPhone X killer. For $499 it's hard not to find it a bargain!
