Unfortunately for Sony, having the best camera Isn't going to improve the 8.5 score the Z5 will get on phonearena. The main knock will be that it looks too much like the Z3. And the everybody except the ifans know what's wrong with this picture. Lol

Z2 was the best looking Xperia so far (in my view). It feel very premium in hand, unlike Z3. If Z5 feels like Z2 then I wont mind giving it a shot

Had it in my hand. I know what you mean by Z2 vs Z3. I can say that especially the new frosted back makes the phone look and feel premium as hell.

I agree with the feeling... my dad has the Z1 Compact and I have the Z3 Compact... the Z1c built feels a lot better in hand... Though the Z3c is superior in many ways.

Wow, that's great! I kind of wish they could've put the metal frame on the Compact, too, though.

Yeah I'm with you. Metal frame would've been nice. I think the Z3c was a great device and so will be this new one. But sadly it's probably still the same Display with 720p Resolution in Z5c and there is this plastic body and you get 1GB of RAM less than in the bigger models. I'm not saying, that 720p and 2GB of RAM isn't enough. Probably you won't Need any more in Every-Day-Usage, so it doesn't matter that much, but for 2015 it is just in the lower High-End-Range of Smartphones out there. Although Sony makes far the best Smartphones in a Compact size.

I still dont take that site serious. I wanna see how they rate the lumia 950xl. But not to be salty... Sony did very good with the z5. If i had bogs of cash I'd definitely buy the z5 premium right away. Shipping to my country is too dam high, not to mention customs. I will wait and see how much the lumia xl costs first before I order the z5 premium.

Actually out of all of the tech sites out there who just compare the photo to few top phones and add a final camera score at DXO they have a hell of a scientific method and they inspect every detail as far as I know. I would trust DXO score more than phonearena will say in their review and any other site like gsmarena the verge etc who's methods are childish when compared to DXO, Of course I dont blame all these sites as DXO only does camera/sensor reviews and not the whole product.

self-proclaimed camera experts complain about dxomark's rankings because they don't examne the sub-ratings. the sub-ratings reveal and justify everything. truth be told, z5 won simply because of the fast autofocus and impressive video stabliization. still can't compare to the s6/note5's fine detail preservation and sharpness. maybe z5 can win comparisons if all devices use the same settings (same ISO and exposure time in particular) sony fan here.

haha that's because you're not looking at the sub-scores. examine the sub-scores/ratings and you'll see that dxomark is not saying that z5 is better than the s6 edge or g4 based on the standards you use when doing blind comparisons here in phonearena. the s6 and g4 still score higher in terms of noise, artifacts, and exposure and contrast (the only standards you likely use). dxomark is not saying anything that contradicts what you are seeing on phonearena. z5 won because of its color rendition, stabilization, and autofocus.

Sony premium might be my next main phone. Sony seems to mostly care about power users in a way few do. I'd love to go nexus 6p on fi, but... Not quite.

I'll wait for reviews to see if sd810 can keep its cool under prolong camera usage and continuous gaming. If so, then the chrome z5 premium might be the next one!

How much did $ony pay DxOMark? Just wait til the new iPhones get tested, they will top every other smartphone camera.

Slightly less then what apple is going to pay them obviously and slightly more then samsung and Google.

So apparently not enough as Apple's gonna be paying them more once they get top place? Great point as this may explain PA's iphone 6s review score. :P

actually the Z5 scores lower when it comes to noise and exposure and contrast compared to the Z3+. samsung and LG fans, please don't be worked up. if you look at the sub-ratings, the s6 and g4 are still better when looking at images on 100% zoom, taken using a tripod. they have higher ratings for exposure and contrast, noise, and artifacts. dxomark is not being patronizing to camera maker sony. just learn to look at the details of the ranking.

All I am waiting for is the battery life review and local price but since it will be €699 in Europe, that means z5 and z5c will be more affordable than s6 edge and iphone 6's launching prices.

Sony, Samsung, LG, even Huawei are making top notch cameras on Android phones. As an Android user, we all win as they try to one up each other.
