Dual-tone HTC One M9 unveiled with 20 MP camera, Sense 7, and blazing Snapdragon 810

After months of speculation, leaks, counterleaks, renders, cases and schematics, the new HTC flagship is finally official. The handset had a somewhat unfortunate destiny when it comes to leaked knowledge about its specs and overall appearance, as it already appeared in tipped official renders and even promo videos, so we largely knew what to expect, save for a few small, but important details. Absolutely underwhelming ... Hardly worth of the name M8S... Now, Samsung must be celebrating with champagne ....

If the s6 has no micro sd slot, then this phone will see a lot of Samsung converts.

As much as I hate to say it, I don't think this is enough of an upgrade to make people want it over the Galaxy S6. I'll still stick with HTC because I like the sound, but the design isn't enough of an update to make on-the-fencers lean this way. If it looked more like the beautiful concept renders, with narrower top and bottom bezels, with just little speaker openings, then I think it could've been even more amazing. The other thing I want to know is, where is this rumored "M9 Prime" or "M9 Plus" or whatever?

I'm really excited for this phone. It seems the only thing missing is water-proofing. I'm glad that it can hold up to a 128gig micro-sd card. I wish they were releasing a color at the beginning. I guess I will go with the black. :-)

In the processor category, you made a mistake. It says "making the One M8 only the second flagship". It should be M9

HTC with same mistake. M7 front and M8 back with little improvements. Well, I guess they are in a hurry to join Nokia

Guess the exciting news HTC wanted to present us was the fitness-watch and the VR, not the phone itself. Bummer.

I expected some changes in the design. But oh well, it still looks good! I'll wait until Xperia Z4, G4, Ascend P8 get launched first before making my final decision.

We have a Samsung basher and a Sony Basher. Can't wait for LG and other bashers. Ahh the beauty of PhoneArena. Anyway, the One m9 looks good. Lets hope the Toshiba sensor is good.

Man, M9/HTC live event was lame. Plus, same old design with fugly logo/black bar. Watch Sammy S6/S6 Edge ownage, lulz!

kinda is an understatement, they begin talking about design like they just came up with something new only to show pretty much a modern m8. what a slap in the face

Pretty decent and expected, will be interesting to see how it does vs. the S6 and G4. I am so glad Htc got rid of that crappy UltraPixel camera at the back and put it at the front, that 20MP Toshiba sensor should be enough to challenge whatever Samsung put in the S6, finally Htc have fixed the one thing they did wrong.

Now that you mention it, I'm not sure whether I like the dual tone design either, but their new homescreen theme selection looks awesome.

So sad HTC! So sad! I guess your market shares weren't good enough rite now for a different design idea. Maybe in the future i'll get to have my HTC phone back. MAYBE!

Really cool they voted for batter battery life instead of crazy high screen resolution! No one can see the difference anyway! I wouldn't buy a phone with higher resolution!

Thick, rounded back, marginally larger battery and screen remains the same despite the footprint. They really didn't try here.

Even ZTE GRAND S3 seems better than HTC M9..http://www.bgr.in/news/zte-grand-s3-a-smartphone-that-scans-your-eye-to-unlock-launched-at-mwc-2015/

Why bezels why. And I don't buy the speaker thing. The M7 at least had capacitive buttons. The Sony line has duel speakers and a not a ridiculous chin. Why must I pay for a massive logo at the cost of my viewing experience. I hope HTC goes down. I don't feel for them anymore and I don't buy there excuses. They never learn. Poor management decisions have seen them steady decline and it looks like its another iteration. Pity I loved their UI. I think a more deserving manufacturer should buy out the htc UI team and put them to good use somewhere else.

"...making the One M8 only the second flagship announced with Qualcomm's finest processor, after the LG G Flex 2." You forgot the Xiaomi Mi Note Pro
