i believe it is intentional as Nokia Android is the hottest thing right now.. it needs all the hype and who knows whether MS will stop selling Normandy after acquisition or not..

What if Nokia had bet on Android, where they had succeeded. Now they had to sell the business to microsoft, anars they had plenty of business. now they went bankrupt But what say Chinas government that their own manufacturers have to pay licenses but that microsoft nokia will not have licenses? Will China really go along with it? I think China wants to compete on equal terms. Yes Indian manufacturers equally so. Will India allow a manufacturer (nokia ms) microsoft as to avoid license? I believe that the producers and Chinese manufacturers will be struck unless they sign contracts with microsoft about avoiding license

Nokia, when we said come join Android, we didn't mean to bring the 520 specs with you.

I guess they don't want it to cannibalize the sales of its Windows Phone devices? They were bought by Microsoft

THIS alone will canibalize WP sales.

Depends on the price.. If it's priced like the 520, WP marketshare will decrease greatly.

Don't be worry Nokia gonna put cheaper price. And it will sell more than 520 for sure.

Its not like WP has a big market share to begin with. Just the last quarter alone Nokia sold 8.2 million lumias during the holiday season (down 700,000 from the previous quarter), and Nokia sells over 90% of all WP devices. Now when you look at Android sales they keep going up every quarter since it was released. Android sold over 220 million smartphones during the holiday quarter. Not to mention Android supports a vast array of hardware including almost every CPU known to man. Unlike WP which only supports certain CPUs specific to Qualcomm. This Nokia X (Normandy) phone also is running with a cortex-A5 CPU, which WP and the NT kernel do not support. So it makes sense to use Android since it already runs on those CPUs.

No it won't as Nokia's lower end WP phones are agressively priced everywhere and people will prefer to add a little more money and get a Lumia 525.

You have no clue. In the US the 520 was priced as low as $49, and still Nokia only sold 8.2 million lumias, and that is down from the previous quarter of 8.9 million lumias. And now Microsoft is going to give you are free 520 when you buy Xbox music for the year. How much lower does Nokia and Microsoft have to lower the WP 520 devices if they are so good and selling like hot cakes? So why come out with an Android device when WP is so good in your eyes. I guess the other reason is Android supports dual sims where as WP doesn't.

Nokia might have sold lower Lumias in Q4 than in Q3, but the overall platform sales are higher in Q4 & YoY, which is the more important thing. And even Android lost marketshare in the US in Q4. So get all your facts right before you come out here to troll.

If you want to sling facts around then let's look at the US market which lost .3% from the previous quarter. The biggest loss came from HTC and they lost 1.4% for Androids market share. Samsung gained during that period. Here's another fact for you, WP will be four years old on the 15th of this month since it was first introduced to the public. Where are the sales and market share? I remember in 2011 claims were made that WP would have around 50% of the smartphone market by 2015. Then it was revised that WP would surpass iOS by 2016, then again in 2017. Globally Android has risen consistently every quarter. Also claims were made that Android would never reach past 65% globally. So why is Nokia using Android if WP is such a great platform? Shouldn't WP be winning on its own merits. Instead Microsoft has to pay OEMs to make WP devices for them. Microsoft currently will give you a free lumia 520 if you buy 1 year in Xbox music in the US. And now if you have an iPhone 4s or galaxy S2 then you can get a 1020 or 1520. Talk about desperate for sales. I don't have to troll, the facts speak for themselves.

The first WP devices were introduced to public in late 2010 & to most countries in early 2011, so come back next year kiddo. :)

WP was first introduced to the world in February 15 2010 at MWC. Like I stated above with all the other facts. As far as actual devices the came out in October 2010. It still doesn't change the fact that WP is a desperate closed and limiting platform.

Lol dude. U r a true predictor.

Exactly! MS won't allow this to happen. A high end droid from nokia will kill their own Lumias.

Nokia got very less time after breaking free away from MS infected Moles like Eflop.. i consider this as a big achievement in itself that they were able to get atleast 1 device on android..

I sincerely hope they bring a high end full android-based handset by the end of the year. I might consider nokia again but I doubt MS will allow such thing to happen.
