Cyanogen picks up powerful allies on its march against Google

By now, Cyanogen – the company which spawned from the modding team that created the popular CyanogenMod – has made some bold statements about its plans for the future and its general outlook on the mobile industry. Back in January, CEO Kirt McMaster said that the company wants to build an Android OS, which is devoid of anything Google-related and is “open at every level”. Later, he took a jab at Samsung, implying that the titan moves a bit too slow to keep up with the market and will be brought down by ambitious and more agile startups in just a few years.

Enough already cyanogen. I am a big fan of cyanogenmod, but it seems as the corporate arm in cyanogen Inc. They operate just as clumsily as the big boys (samsung and others) I had the one plus one. And i had to install cyanogenmod to have a better experience compared to the corporate release. Basically everyone that installs a cyanogenmod rom, immediately installs gapps. (Googles proprietary applications) People want to use Google. I not once used or relied on the many (carrier or cyanogen apps to replace Googles calendar or gallery etc etc) Cyanogen Inc is no different than HTC making sense ui. Or samsung TouchWiz ui.

I know this is the case but I still refuse to use anything with the Cyanogen name in it.

CM will need to have their phones available on a carrier in the US in order to see any real sales. They can post their dreams to social media all they want, but they need to follow up their claims with action. It looks like they are off to a decent start, but they have a tough road ahead of them.

I don't really get it, why would they want to make a different OS lol personally I like Cyanogenmod cuz it brings stock android experience to skinned phones like Samsung and LG and Sony, that's Cyanogenmod to me, why would they "make" an OS..

How many shipping devices does Cyanogen have right now? Just one. Mcmaster should've stick with oneplus as it made cyanogen more popular beyond modder community. I don't see cyanogen having bright future without their own device. Sites like PA can write all they want...but they are no where close to take down anyone right now...may be in their dreams!

I used to be a CM user, but as time passed I found them to be getting just as bad as OEM's /carriers. Newer custom ROM's popped on the scene I found either offered more or just did what CM did, but better.

Cyanogen guys are just dic*s, nothing new there. The head guy has always been so full of himself, it ridiculous. At the end of the day, he's nothing more than a mid-level hacker that has a company with no real purpose or substance. Dude's mad because he can't find a way to make money off his chosen lifestyle. All that code knowledge, no common sense. Did you really think you were going to buy a yacht and 400 pounds of blow off your chosen "career"? GTFO. And, not that I personally care much for Samsung, but this guy is jabbing at them for letting him go a few years back. After getting this douche on board, people see through his smoke and mirrors. It's all good though, he'll make some cash teaching Microsoft what Android is. Too bad anyone who already knows what Android is knows this guy is the plague. Good luck with your forked Android, bro. Amazon already did that and they seem to be the only company that tried it that still uses it (see also: Microsoft). Nobody wants it. Plus, there's at least 10 other OSes in front of you in line for that pie. The guys at Sailfish and Mozilla are likeable, however, and not a boatfull of douchebags and mid-level hackers, so I'd go there first. Then, you got Samsung's Orient Money Train Express and Tizen, so best get off the tracks. Go home, Cyanogen, you're drunk...
