Cricket has a great deal on the Samsung Galaxy S9; pay $275 when you port over your number
Now that the Samsung Galaxy S10 line up has been released, you can shop around for deals on the Galaxy S9. But you probably won't be able to top a new deal from pre-paid carrier Cricket (via Android Authority). The AT&T MVNO is offering new customers the 64GB Galaxy S9 for $274.99. This requires that a new Cricket subscriber port over his or her number from another carrier as long as that carrier is not AT&T (for obvious reasons).
Those moving to Cricket without porting over their number, or current subscribers with an upgrade, can buy the phone for $549.99. That is a $50 discount from Cricket's usual price of $599.99. However, if you're a current customer of the pre-paid provider using an upgrade, half of that savings disappears thanks to a $25 upgrade fee.
Frankly, if you're not porting your number over to Cricket and taking advantage of that $274.99 price, you're better off purchasing the phone elsewhere. An eBay seller is offering the 64GB unlocked version of the phone for $449.99, while B&H Photo has the same unit for $479.99. And if you don't mine leasing the phone, Sprint is charging $10 per month for an 18 month Flex Lease.
The $274.99 deal for the Galaxy S9 is available with the following Cricket plans:
- $30/month-includes unlimited talk, text, data (2GB of high-speed data).
- $40/month ($35 with AutoPay)-includes unlimited talk, text and data (5GB of high-speed data).
- $55/month ($50 with AutoPay)-includes unlimited talk, text and data (speeds up to 3Mbps), video streams at 480p.
- $60/month ($55 with AutoPay)-includes unlimited talk, text and high-speed data, video streams at 480p.
The deal is available online only, and expires on May 18th. Also note that the Galaxy S9 may be restricted for use only on Cricket's network for the first six months following the purchase of the phone.
