From what I have read we either get a 50 or 100 dollar discount for the new every two depending on your current device.

Can you get the $50 new every two upgrade discount if you purchase from Costco? I was under the impression that you cannot use that at a big box store and can only use that if you buy directly from Verizon. If I could get this discount on top of the bundle from Costco that would be one sweet deal :)

New every two credits are only applicable in VZW stores. VZW also changed it policies. After a certain date in February 2011 if you have not received a new every two then you will not get one, that program cease to exist. Second if you did become eligible before that date you did receive your new every two; you have 6 months from that date to use it before it expires. Most of you all already either used the credit or lost it except for those who became eligible in Feb before the cut off date. Now if u have family accounts I say used the credit on a feature phone for a member who doesn't require a smart phone. Also then use their upgrade to purchase the phone from either amazon mobile or wirefly. Amazon mobile discounts are the best. Phones like the droid charge and htc thunderbolt were discounted to 99.99 and 79.99 respectively. That's the best bang for your buck.

$279 is still to much for this phone. Id wait till it drops below $150 at least, gives u time to see all the bugs being worked out for the suckers that copped it too early.

the phone itself is $130 if you get it from Costco. yes, you've got to front the $280 but after which you can just sell all of the accessories new in box to make back a lot of the money.

I have bad news -- you might not get the full value for the accessories. I wouldn't be surprised if you got 80 cents on the dollar.

that's still a lot of the money. it's better than paying $300 for just the phone.

Let's see... $280 for the phone, $150 worth of accessories at 80 cents on the dollar...

$160 for the phone.

People don't understand that they are hurting their local Verizon stores when they buy from Costco, Wal-Mart, Bestbuy, ect. These places give the average customer the idea that highend phones shouldn't cost so much. Think about the customer that buys a $500 smartphone from walmart for $29 and decides not to get insurance because the phone is so "cheap." And then they come into a Verizon store to replace their broken phone and flip out when they hear its $500 for a new one. And then go on to say how the sales rep never told them about insurance. Oh wait, you mean a wal-mart employee didn't go over everything with you and offer you a professional experience? Wow, shocking...

Why would I pay $299.99 for just the phone when I can pay $279.99 for the phone plus over $100 worth of accessaries? So I can go into a little verizon store wait for 30min to an 1hr to make sure I'm offered insurance? Realy? Verizon store FTL.

You have to keep in mind that Verizon allows Costco as a reseller because the benefits outweigh the costs. Verizon knows its a different target market meaning you have to be a Costco member to get the deal. Plus, Verizon gets customers with high income levels, etc due to the demographics that shop at Costco. The lower prices may be due to lower churn, less headaches, etc.

As for insurance, I believe in self-insurance. I have bought otter cases for my iPod touch and those cases (both the defender and reflex) are built to withstand serious abuse. I got a Zagg screen and rocket fish case (each was overpriced) for my Motorola Triumph and the phone is well protected.

Let's not forget it's an electronic device and it's not some low-tech toy.

Well.. Bestbuy sells the phone at the 299 price and you still get the new every 2 rebate.. I have the 50.00 one.. And.. here's the kicker too..

If you purchase their "black tie" protection for the 9.99 for a month.. was told you can cancel at any time, but before you do, call the geek squad and say your battery is dead.. They will send you a new battery and now you have the spare instead of the 40-50 price tag.. They explained all at Best buy.. You should consider it.. Worth it ..

whats your point? If i bought a 500 phone for 29 i'd rub my two brain cells together and get the insurance on my own accord... your the idiot for not getting insurance.

I talked to a Verizon person at Costco today. They will have the phone, 6 at my store, on the 8th with the bundle. No, you will not get the $50 every 2 year credit like you would get at the Verizon store.

Bottom line: Costco = $279 + bundle / Big Red = $249 & no accessories.

The extra batter and charger + the car dock is worth it for me to go to Costco in the morning.

"Fittingly priced." I don't understand, doesn't any variation of the galaxy s2 have better specs at a hundred dollars less. Faster processor, better screen, better design.

Am I wrong?

Wow you're going to argue screen quality, check any professional review; a super amoled plus with wvga, has better contrast, color, clarity and overall picture than the cheaper qhd. You obviously haven't been keeping up with the times. I recommend cnet, phandroid, engadget, maybe even this site in the future.

Now on to form. The s2 is the thinnest super phone to date, you know what just read engadget, phandroid, or cnet's review and learn something.

By the way, opinion becomes fact when the majority says it's true, especially if the majority consists of professionals most qualified to make such claims

anyone with any sense will tell you there's trade offs for both of the technologies. qHD actually has more clarity and even on a larger screen has a fairly dense pixel density and SA+ has it's true blacks and beautiful colors. the differences matter more on phones with 4.3" screens and up.

Lte - No
Build Quality - Cheap plastic
Flimsy back cover
IPhone Rip-off -- FACT proven by courts.
Motorola has its own style and basically made Android what it is. Respect the Droiiiiids!

I tend to disagree, back in 1969 the experts and the majority said the Colts were the best team in the Super Bowl....but the Jets proved them wrong.

The majority is exactly that the majority of opinions....Before Columbus the majority thought the world was flat does that make it so?????

Re: quote from jnort:

"By the way, opinion becomes fact when the majority says it's true..."

Are you f##king serious?? Have you taken a science class before? Grow up. Just because you disagree doesn't mean it was a personal stab at you and your beliefs. You are the authority on smartphone screens because you read a few reviews? That gives you the right to rudely insult someone's intelligence? I've read all of those same reviews and most say that there are ups and downs to each technology. THAT is fact. THAT can be measured.
As for which downside is worse, that could never be anything but opinion - no matter how many people think it. Comparing the two different screen technologies is not apples to apples. It is simply not possible to prove objectively that one is better.
There is certainly nothing wrong with all of us chiming in with our opinions, but you are most definitely not a genius. Don't talk to others like they're morons because you've read a few reviews and think you know a thing or two.

the biggest issue with samsung is their software updates.... I know sooooo many people who were way excited about getting their new samsung. Samsung either really pissed someone off at google, or maybe they just don't want to contribute to the upgrade fundage..... that's what me thinks. It makes me a bit nervous though having amazon already drop the price 100 bucks right from day one.... they know something we don't!

An opinion is an opinion regarles if its given by a "professional most qualified", expecially about a cell phones design. The screen quality of super amoled and qhd is no matter what you say debatable. Some may find super amoled overly saturated in terms of color. I do admitt however that it out does the qhd when viewing in direct sunlight.
