Comsumers reaction to video adds on their cellphones is to be tested
Verizon and Sprint Nextel are among the first wireless carriers willing to test out services, displaying short video ads on their subscribers' mobile phones. According to carriers' initial plans subscribers will have to opt for simple video ads in exchange of some incentives such as monthly phone fees. Carriers also plan to deploy the service limitedly in the beginning as they can't be sure of the customers' reaction. ESPN, Nike, Hilton, Pepsi are among the well-known companies, which are ready to start testing video, banner ads or full-screen images on mobile handsets. If the tests turn out to be successful there are further plans to make location based advertising via GPS-enabled cellphones to sent ads when the subscriber is in the vicinity of a certain store.
