Code reveals how the iPhone 8's resizable home key could look, tips 240fps slow-mo at 1080p

0. phoneArena posted on 11 Aug 2017, 05:53

In a nutshell, the new home button of the "all-screen" iPhone 8 could very well look like what you see in the short vid below - big and omnipresent at the home screen, shrinking when apps open up above its navbar, while media and other apps that require full screen can hide it out of the way completely until you need it again. The fact that you might not be able to change its color or shade lends another credence to the "function" area that famed Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo was talking about when referring to the bottom of the iPhone 8 screen. At the time, he also mentioned that the "active" display area will be 5.15", so there could indeed be a navigation strip at the iPhone 8's bottom. What else it might be used for, remains to be seen...

IMO the first one almost looks amazing, but a whole bar just for the clock ruins it

Just cycled the between the clock and battery, etc...
That way it reduce burn-in too

Walks all over the competition, to be honest. But there are probably 2 maybe even 4 months until release...maybe Samsung and LG will wake up (the others are already living in the distant past with their hilarious bezels).

Apple has being the king of bezels since forever, and sheeples have always defended them. Now, small bezels/'bezeless' is, all of a sudden, great. What really happened to the "not practical" arguments? The idea seems to be to criticize something you don't have, that is until you have it.

Yeah. They might add a back button and an overview button beside the home button as well.

Larger devices like tablets need bezels because they’re harder to hold. A phone of this size would probably be fine with such small bezels.

But phones aren't tablets.

How much of a bezel do you need to hold a device?

The S6/S7/S8 edge models basically all have a near ZERO bezel on the sides and its no easier or harder to hold vs any other phone.

You don't need big bezels on the top and bottom of a phone. Those only existed because OEM's didn't really try to make a beter design.

The fact is no one even cares. They buy a product becaus ethey want/liek it. Not its bezel size.

But the true point is, when Samsung reduced bezels, you haters claim its not practical or abad idea. Now that Apple is doing it...OMG everyone is gonna follow?!

Wait, other OEM's already did this, so that means as per usual you turn a blind eye to facts.

Don't forget how they hate OLED and glass backs.
Suddenly they'll love those two when the iPhone 8 gets released (assuming that the rumors and leaks about it having a glass back are real)

Ummm... the iPhone 4/4s had a glass back long before any of these phones. The majority of iPhone users have no qualms with glass, not sure why you're perpetuating a lie.

They're talking about the trolls here who bashed Samsung phones for the glass back and AMOLED.

Look ted, we already know how kiko rolls in this site, he might not be trolling non-Apple articles like many Apple fanboys here do, but it is a fact that he intentionally turns a blind eye on Apple trolls, he doesn't even deny it when we repeatedly tell him.

He's alright. He's doesn't need to police every article or comment.

I am aware of the 4/4S, I actually would love to see their design return.
The majority yes, but it is still a fact that some Apple trolls here bash Samsung's new flagships for having glass backs, calling them fragile, so my previous comment isn't a lie.
Oh wait, I almost forgot that you intentionally turn a blind eye to Apple trolls here, sorry about that.

with what? with design? why? are already phones on the market with small bezels, what makes this one so special? Hilarious bezels? LG G6, Samsung s8? MI? Those are hilarious.. seriously, doesn't make too much sense what you are saying.

Sorry, you cant complain about other manufacturer's bezels when it's only now that Apple have decided to do something about theirs.

It walks all over the competition in what way? The phone isn't even released. You have no idea what it will do other than rumors.

The onl;y confirmed rumor is AR.

But AR and VR are both waste of time and money. Right now.

I'm just curious how you can make a claim for something that isn't even released?

You must have been abducted by aliens and taken to Apple Mountain and they did things to your mind.

Its like looking at a photo of a car and claiming its the fastest car in the world, when it hasn't even been in a race.

If this is real that looks horrible. The Home key is always visible? And the unibrow on top didn't seem to be blacked out all the time. Very odd design choices.

The first version I like the most. You don't notice that ugly gap and still some use for that little bit of extra space on each side.

Samsung still has "a lot of jobs" by delivering display panels and various parts for IPhones.. since.. some time already. Same about Intel as far as I heard for modems. LG too.. and many other companies... yeah!

1080p at 240fps... sounds OP. Though the actual video quality is still to be seen.

1080p at 240fps, hmm not bad but Sony can do better with 720p at 960fps. That's 300% more frames per second. But who cares? Apple's gonna claim innovation anyway to feed them sheeps.
