Cingular and HP partner to offer UMTS/HSDPA-enabled notebooks

Cingular Wireless and Hewlett-Packard Co. announced that they have signed a marketing agreement to integrate Cingular's UMTS/HSDPA-based technology into HP's broadband wireless notebooks later this year. These notebooks will provide customers with access to email, the Internet and business data both through U.S.-based wireless connections like Cingular's BroadbandConnect and EDGE networks and overseas networks, which have deployed UMTS or GPRS/EDGE technology. Cingular's BroadbandConnect service, based on  UMTS/HSDPA technology is currently available in 16 markets covering 52 cities, but it is expected to be available in most major markets by the end of 2006. There is still no information, regarding the actual specifications of the new HP's notebooks as well as the exact release data and possible price.
