Yesterday, the upcoming Huawei P20 Lite went for preorder in the country of Poland with all of its specs and features listed, pegging it squarely as Huawei's affordable alternative to the iPhone X, complete with a notch at the top. Lo and behold, today a hands-on video with the device has leaked out of Italy, and, judging from the tethered phone, it's probably from a carrier or a retailer presentation. We won't spoil the fun, but just say that this is one of the clearest ideas you can get about how Android phones with a notch will behave interface-wise, love it or leave it.

At the equivalent of $440, the phone hosts a 5.84" LCD (yes, LCD) screen with 1080 x 2280 pixels resolution, returning the robust 423ppi pixel density - well, apart from the top screen cutout, of course. The notch has allowed Huawei to keep the dimensions of the P20 Lite very, very compact at 5.85 x 2.80 x 0.29 inches (148.6 x 71.2 x 7.4 mm), with a rather bearable 5.11 oz (145 g) of weight.

It also houses the 16MP selfie snapper and sensors that allow Huawei to implement a Face Unlock feature of sorts, logging in 96 face points. The company claims that the its face-detection system sports anti-cheating algorithms, and will probably blame some sort of AI for this. The selfie wonders don't stop here, though, as Huawei also offers Studio Light Effects, similar to Apple's feature that is still in beta. Do you like what you see, and what is awaiting you on Android phones with a notch-y cutout at the screen's top?

Thanks for the tip, Nicola!
