Cases for the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus confirm placement of fingerprint reader?

Even though we have shown you a number of cases allegedly designed for the Samsung Galaxy S8, none of them match the leaked image of the phone released by Evan Blass. That is, until today. A couple of pictures found on weibo show two cases that are apparently made for the 5.7-inch Samsung Galaxy S8 and the 6.2-inch Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus. Both units will feature a Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1440 x 2560...

It's called backing out. I have always backed out of my apps. Just the way I have always done it.

Oh , if I do press it is don't mean to. It's just because when I pick up my phone I might hit it by accident. But no I don't use it because I want to. So for me I will probably love it on the back.

Gotta be the most dumbest place to put it. Absolutely useless. Might as well not have one and go back to unlock codes as iris is still goofy n gimmicky.

This. it's funny when you see Samsung fans acting like the Iris scanner is even remotely convenient. Unless it can unlock just by mere looking at it, then it's absolutely useless IMO.. and don't tell me it'll use up battery as they can as well dedicate an entire always-on chip just for it. sort of like the entirely dedicated chip for apples Siri or the one for 3D touch..

If it's the case (no play on game intended) I will be very disappointed. First no upgrade for the camera then this ridiculous location for the fingerprint. I was expecting it under the screen. Im a big fan of the S series but I think I'll wait for the Note 8

If this is the real deal, then it's freaking ugly. They will loose alot of customers. Their head designer must have been drunk making that.....

How loose are the customers?:)

That phone is going to launch, that'll be the actual fingerprint sensor placement, and it'll sell like hot cakes.

Doesn't change the fact that the location is ridiculous. Also all the crap iPhone users get from Samsung fans about iPhones selling out despite flawed mechanics like lower res screens, no 3.5 mm.. Turns out if Samsung does something dumb, the Samsung fans buy into it just the same.

You expected different? Let's face it, the two groups are VERY similar, the only difference lies in superficial nonsense. Basically; you'd do well not to expect large groups of tribalists to see things objectively.

Yea you're 100% right. But there's one major difference, iPhone users don't attack and try to degrade Samsung users just because they prefer their Oem, whereas Samsung fans act as if they are serving as some form of saviour of humanity by not using the iPhone, and anyone thag does is brainwashed and can't think for themselves. But then in the end, they are doing the exact same thing they insult others on.

OMG that is about the dumbest post. Apple fans are just as bad and say the same s**t.

Incoming #smeargate for the S8 now as everyone tries to unlock their phone and smear their camera a bit with the oils from their fingers as they try and press on the FP scanner. Seriously, prepare for a lot of smudged up/not fully clear/milkyish S8 photos from folks this year, not even joking

Front fingerprint scanner is perfect.. when holding.. unlocking etc.. why would Sammy want to keep them in awkward position?.. its too bad if its at backside.. I am not buying it. I am happy with S7 so far.

There is a lot of whining going on in here... Just like you've trained your hands to use the front fingerprint scanner, you'll do the same for the rear... Muscle memory will eventually take over and you'll be fine. I look forward to the change if it happens...

So I just simulated the finger placement with my V20. I think if the finger scanner is on the rear, it needs to be centered. To accommodate for left and right handers. The S8 placement above felt just fine with my right hand, but when trying with the left, very awkward indeed. Samsung is reaching to be different in this situation. A centered rear scanner would mean they would be imitating the Chinese OEM. And what's with these specs? Every year, android phones up the anty in all areas in regards to screen, CPU, ram, battery. When does this battle of biggest stop?

You will see the plateau soon. After 10GB ram, then what?

48. mikehunta727 unregistered

This question has literally been asked every year in every decade, "What do we need more then 640 KB of RAM for? we could never fill that up!" -Bill Gates like 25-30 years ago Not seeing any plateau, every new smartphone I get is considerably faster then the last one, and smartphones still have long ways to go to catch desktops in performance, but they are on that path so yeah tons more progress to go. More RAM that is more power efficient then the RAM before it(LPDDR4X etc) is nothing but positives. More RAM allows for bigger games with better graphical detail, bigger applications on Android/iOS/more apps in the background the battle of the biggest will never stop, we can always use more computing power and gain more computing power via advances, there is never enough computing power Smartphones will be able to record in 4K/60 fps, 8k 30 fps in the future, do some insanely powerful real time augmented reality/virtual reality, etc etc, have all this incredible functionality that requires more processing power and GPU power and etc. You are thinking very small and limited, just compare smartphones from a whole decade ago to devices nowadays, we can do so much more, in so much higher resolution and detail and much faster then ever, this will just continue to keep going. Everyone wants more power efficient chips that are also faster then previous, even if they don't know it. After 10GB of RAM? 12GB of RAM, after 12GB of RAM in a phone? 16GB of RAM that is more power efficient and faster then that 12GB of RAM replaced, what after 16GB of RAM, 32GB, 64GB, 128GB, and etc, more powerful CPU/gpu cores that are also more power efficient, the future looks beautiful in this regard

I just genuinely don't believe Samsung would be stupid enough to put the fingerprint sensor in such an awkward place, when we've seen time and time again that the tech for under the glass fingerprint scanners is very much alive.

it's the best placement for the fingerprint scanner! I simulated it with my S6 and I was blown away how natural my finger fall on the scanner(well in my case flash!) I bet you ride a horse or donkey!

IMHO the fingerprint reader placement is the best possible counting the size and SBR of S8. my finger gets there so naturally on my s6 I wonder why they didn't put it there in first place! the only problem is for guys who put their phone face up and want to unlock while on the table with one hand. but I think it's good! good job Sammy!

Calm down. Wait a little closer till launch. Samsung won't screw over its customer base. The finger print scanner will be located in the middle. This is a unnatural location especially for left handed people.

Not such a bad location for me. I have motoX 2014. I place my left index finger in the dimple. Should be something people can easily get used t to even if awkward at first
