Canada's Federal Court says RIM can use BBM as abbreviation for BlackBerry Messenger

0. phoneArena posted on 31 May 2012, 21:36

With a dropping stock price, lower than expected earnings on the way, and a rapidly declining user base, it seems like things are going from bad to worse for the Canadian based manufacturer; the good news is that the company received a favorable ruling in Canada's Federal Court...

Not 59 but 80 million, Alan. I really fail to understand why writers like you need to do this. This 'departing executives' story is another prime example- unbiased reporters 9which are hard to find these days) will tell you that this is a strategy by the new CEO, Thorsten, to remve the old furniture in RIM and hire new forward-thinking executives and he has started getting new people who have good track records. RIM cannot afford to have backward thinking individuals like the recently booted co-CEOs. Why wasn't it seen as a bad thing when the co-CEOs were removed? But it is a catastrophe when their execs are leaving? Come on!

Not only Alan all writers here in phonearena do exactly the same thing whenever it has to do with RIM they just bash and bash which is so annoying if americans don't use blackberries anymore,Canadians do and the rest of the world do to and yes I do use a bold 9900 and wouldn't trade it for whatever android nor iphone out there my bb does literally anything I want ....I don't care about no unhappy birds or random apps all over market or app store am a business man and more than happy using a blackberry...

Thank You!!!! What I am used to seeing on Phonearena is the fact that even if the news is not so bad, but the headline of the article would be the worst, and only when you read the article and you're about to finish it do they try to point the little truth which is what they should have focused on... But most of the time they fail, dismally in the sense that they always insinuate things.

I really struggle to understand why one thing would happen then it is reported on to one paper and then many media and news sites have the opposite view to the truth which was reported in the original paper. Second handnews is never correct!

I am not burying BlackBerry, I am cheering for them. They are more than Mobile phones, and have tons of revenue streams. But here on Phone Arena, Mobile phones are the topic, along with tablets and carrier policies and support. So of course those topics dominate here. And lately, that has been "non-good news" for BB.

I believe there is room for four strong OS's. But, if BlackBerry wants to be anything more in MOBILE PHONES than just a professional's device and a niche among the Crackberry faithful, they need to act with some urgency. Otherwise, the decline they are in (and even the strongest BB supporters have to admit they are in no way close to where they were just 18 short months ago) will become a free fall.

They need BB 10, developers, and a strong rebound campaign.
