Can you really hold the iPad mini with one hand?

0. phoneArena posted on 23 Oct 2012, 16:00

The new iPad mini comes with a 7.85-inch screen and very little bezel on the sides, and one of the reasons for the latter is easier one handed operation…

I bet you can't. So lets do a challenge, take a photo of yourself holding the iPad with one hand.

That's ridiculous, I can't even hold my Samsung galaxy tab 7.7 with one hand and that's a little bit smaller with ipad mini. Apple misleading again, ifans will still ignore it.

Iphonearena aka apple lovers and believers. They are bigots when it comes to anything that isnt apple. Sad that they keep sticking there foots in there mouth lately. Iphone 4s.. perfect screen size dont need any bigger.. iphone 5 bigger screen guess what they are happy. Ipad mini 7.95 screen one hand works great yet on android devices one handed is just to big. I think Iphonearena are a bunch of idiots that needs to learn real journalism and stop being isheep. I really would like to meet the guy that runs this website.

I know right!

Before apple was refusing to build larger phones because they didn't want to ruin one handed use. But now aparrently even 7.85" can be comfortably used with one hand.

This changes everything

So would this be a copy cat of the other Android tablets because of the size? Why Apple think this is different from other tablets that they wont get sued?

It's not a matter of fitting in hand, as it is fitting in a pants pocket. I think its too wide to comfortably fit in a back pants pocket, let alone comfortably fitting in someone's hand. Since the female gender tends to lean very strongly towards Apple Products they will have an even harder time holding the device with one hand.

"I dont think it will be comfortable to hold with one hand"
These were my first thoughts after ipad was unveiled.
More over 4:3 aspect ratio screen just looks weird! it should have been 16:9. Nexus 7 is very comfortable to hold in one hand and is almost the PERFECT size for 7 inch tablet!

I guess the bezel on other tablets helps so you can hold the side of the tablet without touching the screen.

Cramps ahead. For years iFans have been told 3.5" is the perfect size to fit your hand. Now they have to contend with nearly 8" of tablet. Oh Noes!

If people can one hand this then why do Apple fanbois complain about the Note 2 being too big?

It's funny how Apple has kept the iPhone up to the 4S with a 3.5 inch display because of how easy they said it would be to use with one hand. The iPhone 5 seems the same way also with just extending the screen length wise. Then there's the iPad mini, which obviously isn't meant for one hand control, but they could have at least made it more comfortable for one hand holding. A 16 by 9 ratio 7 inch screen seems to be perfect for one hand holding with the fingers around the edges. Idk if the Nexus 7 will outsell the iPad mini due to it being an Apple product, but I will always recommend the Nexus 7 over this.

they would desperately hold on to the downgraded tablet rather than embrace the full glory of phablets. So sad...

Did Apple get the dimensions for this thing wrong?
