Most friends who immigrated to the US shy away from Verizon and Spring because of CDMA, virtually useless outside N. America. Rather, they use either AT&T or T-mobile, the GSM carriers in the US, so that when they go back home to visit the family, they can just get a local SIM card and use the very same phones. Or, better yet if they're on T-mobile: they can roam abroad for free and make cheap calls.

The value of human life and dignity will always exceed technology disputes or fanboyism. Good luck to your family, and kudos towards T-Mobile for being generous enough to help in their own way...

though I have to consider this as a marketing movement by T-mobile as a MBA student. But it's still very meaningful. Thank you T-mobile

This is very nice to see a company be selfless and support others in need. Even though they won't make any gain out of this (monetary wise), they will gain (prestige wise).
