'Built like a tank': Apple's HomePod speaker gets 1 out of 10 score in repairability

Apple's new HomePod smart speaker costs the whopping $279 to repair, and the latest teardown from the crafty folks over at iFixit comes to show why. The reason Apple is asking 80$ of the HomePod's actual $349 cost to fix it if anything happens, is that it got a repairability score of 1 out of 10 on the iFixit scale. How come?

Well, the HomePod is apparently "built like a tank," which is a double-edged sword, as it apparently means mesh-prying and adhesive removal that is not for the faint of heart, and can easily damage both the looks, and the internals of the device if you are not an authorized repair shop. 

That might be the case even if you are such a facility, though, judging from Apple's official repair pricing for the HomePod, though if you sign up for Apple Care, the fix tag will be much lower.
