BlackBerry returns only to find itself in the friendzone?

BlackBerry is back. Kind of. The company has unveiled two new devices - the all-touch BlackBerry Z10 and the full QWERTY Q10…

I would consider the Z10 as a second device for work or something but for now I'm going to stay team android.

An ubuntu phone device will probably be the first thing to really pull me away from android, if it turns out as good as it looks.

I won't mind getting one as a secondary phone as long as the price isn't too damn high.

These may end up being the most expensive mobiles I've ever seen since the Nokia E90, maybe even worse... maybe the most expensive ever! I'm seeing eBay-er's listings going through the $1,000-roof and onward to $1,500, and up, and up...

If its price is better than that of a Nexus 4 unlocked more people will consider it..

Agreed. I think you are right, and that they would have to sell in that pricepoint range in order to win back the kind of market share they need to become popular again... the only problem is that they will not likely be selling even the refurbished units for that cheap for another year yet.

I also say Good Luck BB but as a L920 owner I refuse to leave. I love the WP platform. I also own a BB Playbook so I am genuinely excited about BB. As for Phones I'm locked into a 2 year with old AT&T on my L920 and couldn't be happier. If WP ever goes down though I refuse to go Android or iPhone. If BB is still around I'd happily go there unless Conical is still around. ;)

It is laughable. BlackBerry 10 is like the uber-nerdy kid who went away to college, built and sold a Fortune-500 internet company in a matter of months, and then came back to his home town, stinking-rich and enjoying early-retirement, to try to woo his old high school flame, but she's already seeing the preppy-jock from the well-to-do family next door (iOS 6.1), and when he's away, working at his dream job in the local DA's office staff, she's actually having a fling with her long-time super-tough-guy bad-boy dream-dude who was recently released from county prison (Android 4.2), and who still steals car-radios during the night. She already has everything she could need or want, and the habit of still wearing the ol' pocket-protector doesn't help him out any, either. Either way... friendzonage fail!

Haha... yeah, but with a less-satisfying ending.

I don't think the Zuckerburg has trouble finding lady friends these days... I don't think the Beiber has too much trouble, either... errr... well, maybe the Beibs has to fight the cougars off with a large baseball bat...

Ha... and I almost forgot! Once every year or two, Justin Beiber (Windows Phone 8) comes to town to take the stage at the local public auditorium, and croons to all of the teeny-boppers...

The friendzonage just got a smidge deeper...

"Oh, no you din't!"

Oh, yes... I just did... LOL!

Blackberry all the way. Blackberry jumps ahead of the game with the z10. Coming soon is being able to communicate with your car, ect. QNX is a very powerful os's. Why do you think they use it in hospitals, space shuttle, and many others. It is rock solid and dependable. GO BLACKBERRY !!!!!!

QNX is indeed powerful and dependable, an article here from PA even discussed that. But the problem is do people care?

I would say Blackberry more so rejoins the game with the Z10. It's a very solid entry I wouldn't say there is a real "wow factor" aside from it being a Blackberry.

I predict that Blackberry will do okay for the most part. Their new device lineup is creating some good buzz. I think sales will probably be average possibly slightly leaning toward the high side. This first iteration should at least get them back in the game. What really matters is how much momentum they gain in the next year or two if they expect to grow to their original luster.

I think all the buzz for the new BB is over... Product reviewers are mostly reporting positive feedback but have all said the same thing... Nothing really different then any other competing product.

I just don't see any reason the mass will replace their iPhones and Androids with a BB.

Always competitive price tags makes difference......

BB has good build quality then most of the droid makers and hardware side almost every thing a stable Smartphone should have ... Now the price tag will decide the future......

Good luck...

Well as a matter of fact, as a business phone the BB Q10 with its QWERTY keyboard and high specs non Android non iphone! I mean for work QWERTY is really important to email and to text really fast and this phone will have it all! I agree most people is not going to change it right away however they will keep it as an option when upgrading! youll see BB is back! and is getting that 3rd place in the smartphone industry! Cheers

I bet I can text and email on a virtual keyboard just as fast as anyone on a physical qwerty keyboard can. I also bet most other people have made that transition as well, based on what I see at work on a daily basis. We sell maybe 2 to 4 physical keyboard phones in a full month.

you're wrong. Touch screen does not outdo tactile feedback. Why do you think game consoles like the 3DS still sell if touchscreen was all the rage and just as good?

Bb generates lots of buzz. Having said that. People won't still buy it because the price is too damn high. $600 ? I'd rather take the nexus 4
