BlackBerry announces first BBM Desktop beta coming soon to Android users

After trying its hand at BBM Desktop in the latest BlackBerry Messenger beta releases, the Canadian company plans to launch a more stable version in the not so distant future. In a post on its website, BlackBerry thoroughly explains what BBM users will get in the next update, and the highlight is BBM Desktop beta.

First off, not everyone will get the BBM Desktop beta, but those who do will see its icon in the Me tab. This first beta version of BBM Desktop will allow users to execute some actions like search, view and find various stuff:

• Choose to view all their chats in a list or in Groups;
• Search for specific conversations from the search bar;
• Search for a Contact to create a new chat;
• Find a contact by alphabetical grouping with the first letter of their name;
• View broadcast messages from Channels they subscribe to.

If you're not among the selected Android users to receive BBM Desktop beta and be able to extend the chat to the desktop, rest assured that BlackBerry will release the full version to everyone soon afterward.
