How smooth is that interface! Even the iPad 2 isnt that smooth!

I think once they incorporate 3G and POP mail without having to tether to a blackberry phone, it will be sweet!

I like the PlayBook--I much prefer this "utilitarian" design over apple's feminine designs. I like the look and I think the OS is great especially the gestures and multitasking features. I really think RIM should license out this OS--It looks like the best OS for a tablet. . . I think it added to WebOS and took the best of WebOS.

Now if I could get it in a form factor like the Asus Transformer.

Are you fucking serious? Unless you have a Blackberry, you can't even do email...or calendars...or contacts on the thing. I seriously wanted this thing to be amazing, but RIM is rushing this to market saying key features "are coming in the future." How about they save it until then...?

maybe so...but if you have a phone that has DUN, you can still use your phone as a tethering device to access the internet on your playbook

so you're one of the apple sheeple hanging around at a wifi hotspot to check your emails then.

I dunno about you, but I only use my smartphone really to check email, as I will always have access to ti, its no real loss that full email integration isnt built in to the device if its a wifi only device at the time. On top of that, the only reason "apps" existed for stuffl ike this in the first place is because of the shortcomings of these types of devices vs computers (low specs, low resolution, a pain in the butt to use web based apps like email), but now the specs and resolution are comparable to netbooks, the apps aren't really a necessity anymore.

I am sorry but pound for pound the Asus Eee Transformer is the ultimate tablet right now. The specs, the price, & quality is all great. Asus is one of the best motherboard makers since the 90's & has a lot of cred in the business world. I have yet to see something of such quality for that price point. Plus the laptop dock is only $179.00, you just can't beat that. I can't wait for the end of this month so I can have one of my own. RIM could have had something special in the playbook, but why get something now & wait for the other features down the road. It looks incomplete. It just makes no sense! I also wanted this to be amazing too.

Considering the "practical knowledge" that RIM gets from this Playbook is supposed to be the development base for OS7 and the QNX tech in the devices they put on the market within the next two years, I cannot imagine how damaging it will be to Blackberry if it is a bomb.
