At first, it was feared that the problems that BlackBerry users were having with YouTube were widespread throughout the entire BlackBerry ecosystem. But as it turns out, only handsets running BlackBerry OS 7 and OS 7.1 are affected by this bug that allows users to see a video, but unable to play it. The problem seems to happen over Wi-Fi and when certain carriers are involved. Google is aware of the situation, which hopefully means a quick fix.
The YouTube problem affects devices running BlackBerry OS 7 and 7.1 like the Bold 9900
Google has yet to disclose what caused the problem, although those affected say that it look as though something was changed in the way that videos are shown. Other complaints have been logged from those using devices other than a BlackBerry. Unlike iOS and Android users, most BlackBerry users do not have a native YouTube client on their device. The YouTube link on the home screen merely redirects the device to the mobile YouTube web page, where apparently the problem lies.
