A bit of info that was in the RIM earnings call, but not directly related to the dollars and cents was that RIM is not expecting BlackBerry 10 devices to hit the market any time soon, not until late 2012...

i was hoping that a cell phone company would make an android phone with a portrait slider like the one pictured above. that would sell a lot faster than a blackberry one.

why wait for a new set of dual core processors? use the one in the playbook. Then this will ensure great app compatibility between these phones and playbook.

Well what they really said was they were waiting for a new Chipset that would support LTE as well . Hopefully Quad-Core by that time . I dont think they can use the PB Dual-Core one because it's Wi-Fi only . ? .

its a procesor. Not sure how that has anything to do with the radio. And if it does, at least release a 3g model to tide it over until an lte version comes out. The major delay is going to hurt them in a time they need to scramble to compete.

This just in, RIM to sell off stock and go out of business at the end of Q4 2012. Rim you are too late to the game and falling behind fast.

Implying RIM will still exist in late 2012

Q3 financial results reflected the release of the BB7 devices (9900/9930, 9810, etc.). The chatter has the BB7 devices plateauing and going clearance. If so, RIM's Q4 is going to be pretty grim. If the BB10 devices are not released until Q3 of 2012, RIM may not be around for the BB10 devices to matter. Somehow, I don't think MS will be interested in making a purchase offer for RIM.

RIM needs to take two steps forward, not one step forward. I mean you have to remember that by this time we will have a new Android OS, a new Windows Phone OS, and a new iOS. And Blackberry 10, the last time I checked, has been pretty much revealed how it is going to look and work. So, the competition is going to already know what you are going to release and by that time make the appeal to their OS' better. Not to mention the amount of app support that Blackberry will have will be low. I mean by that time Windows Phone will be on par with iOS and Android in terms of apps. I don't have a good feeling about the future of Blackberry.
