'Bing tell me': Microsoft’s Cortana voice assistant to hit Lumias in April, voice-over done by Halo's Jen Taylor

0. phoneArena posted on 16 Jan 2014, 04:04

The geeks of mobile, and especially the Windows Phone fans, are eagerly awaiting Microsoft's Cortana voice-controlled assistant. That's not only because it will finally be an answer to Google Now and Apple's Siri, so their friends with iPhones or Android handsets will have one less reason to brag, but also because Microsoft is big in artificial intelligence, voice recognition and simultaneous translation research...

To each his own...

I don't spend a lot of time messing around with my phone, but to have a device and OS I can count on at any time is paramount. Windows Phone is easy to use, nice to look at, efficient, very stable, and has great core features built in, so I don't need to mess around with additional apps often. I think the only major things missing are: a more powerful integrated assistant, quick settings toggles, and a comprehensive notifications area (popular demand, though not 100% necessary with Live Tiles).

But yeah, Windows Phone is easily the best of them all -- for me.

cant wait for its port over to Android (the V-O), may not like the game series, but the AI's always are WIN...

Id give my left nut for a CABAL or EVA voice assistant... C&C FTW!

Only promising feature to look forward to in WP.
But, i highly prefer the name Cortana, than calling it Bing.

Exactly, they lost me at "Bing, tell me..." Cortana is way better.

Hopefully it will be user-selectable. I'd rather just say the command without saying "Bing" or "Cortana".

Exactly... Now, it would be cool if the phone could recognize the name Cortana without us having to press any buttons.. O wouldn't mind saying it then... I wonder if this is what MS is planning.. They did say that this voice assistant was going to be worlds better than anything else as far as voice recognition goes..

It would be pretty cool to have cortana's face pop up on the ask screen when calling on the search. Then in the future it can be a hologram w/ almost real AI!

What if I want to set an alarm? "Bing tell me set an alarm for 1PM tomorrow"... Doesn't really work for commands.
