Beta build of Android 9 Pie-based Samsung Experience 10 leaks ahead of launch

Overall, the look of the software remains largely unchanged. However, over the past month, it seems Samsung has taken the time to fix some of the major inconsistencies in the software, the biggest one being the new dark mode. Previously, despite being activated, the UI would showcase white cards on top of black backgrounds. But in the latest version, this has been updated with dark gray cards on top of pure black backgrounds. Similarly, when Dark Mode is deactivated, the UI will showcase white cards and off-white backgrounds.

Elsewhere in the beta build, Samsung’s new gesture-based navigation system is finally working. This allows users to swipe up from the center of display’s bottom portion to go home. Separately, a swipe up from the left side will act as the back button, while a swipe up on the right will bring up the multitasking menu. Also, for those of you who are used to Samsung’s usual button order, these last two gestures can be swapped.

Completing Samsung’s beta build are two camera features that were previously only available on the Galaxy Note 9 – Scene Optimizer and Flaw Detection – which will improve the final look of photos.

The Samsung Experience 10 beta will be available to a limited number of Galaxy S9 and S9+ users in the US, UK, and South Korea. Unfortunately, Samsung is yet to announce an official launch date.
