This is our selection of the best apps for the month. Feel free to also take a look at our picks for best Android, iOS and Windows Phone games for October 2013.

October has come and gone and we can already smell the approach of the Holiday season. And you know what this means, right? More new gadgets wrapped in shiny boxes and a ton of new applications and games to enjoy. Namely, our picks for best new Android, iPhone, iPad and Windows Phone applications for October 2013. Developers have been hard at work and we have an absolutely fabulous selection of applications.

We start with Apple’s App Store that now brags about having more than 1 000 000 apps on board, and there are some great new apps there, all showing us what is possible with the new clean and modern design of iOS 7. We fell in love with a few of them, but will let you explore the ones you like on your own.

Android is now the largest marketplace and we found some neat productivity apps. This is definitely Android’s strength. It might not get the latest culture and arts-related apps like iOS does, but it does offer some tremendous customization, productivity and automation tools.

Finally, the third ecosystem, Windows Phone, has finally started getting some traction and we’ve picked a few very interesting applications for it. The Windows Phone Marketplace feels a bit like the Google Play store and App Store at their young stages, it lacks many apps, but there are all sorts of interesting ideas taking form there.

Why are almost half of them for iOS only? No, seriously, I am getting tired of iOS favoritism on this site!
