Best new Android, iOS and Windows Phone apps for May 2014

Feeling lost in the woods of millions of applications out there? We’re here to help, as we cherry-pick only the best new apps that have arrived for each of the three biggest platforms this month. In this round-up, we have selected the finest new titles out of Android’s Google Play Store, the Apple App Store, and the Windows Phone Marketplace.

We kick off our selection with an app that aims as high as to replace Skype - Ringo is a new VoIP client that allows you to make very cheap international calls. Unlike Skype, and most other VoIP apps, though, it routes calls via a local number and does not charge you a dime for data. Along with it, we’ve had some excellent new arrivals like the Yahoo News Digest, a twice-a-day selection of the most important stories throughout the globe, delivered in a timely manner and in a beautiful interface.

We have much more in the slideshow below - starting with Android and iOS apps first, and finishing with a selection of the best apps for the third largest ecosystem - Windows Phone. Which ones are your favorites? Take a look below and join in with your thoughts in the comments section below.

I'm glad I'm in the MS ecosystem. Tons of apps without ripping off anyone UI. When I see apps like ringo on iOS etc thats Metro UI. Solid background with clean minimalistic words on top, bright flat colors etc. You can enjoy the knockoff we will enjoy the real thing UI.

recently got a really sweet deal for 1520 and decided not to wait for the nokia 930, it is an amazing device and once you install the 8.1 the screen real estate helps bring one of the best os experience. Use it for all office apps like evernote, mic.note etc. and some games installed I do not really miss any other app. I still got my m8 cannot decide which has a better user experience both have amazing responsive UI. Only thing i miss in 1520 is the OTG USB direct to phone.

One of the better articles on PhoneArena -- something other than rumors, leaks, speculations, and press releases.

Android has a lot of crap apps. Don't really know what the fuse is all about from Android users. Av been enjoying my NL920 for almost a year and the phone still rocks. But just few months with my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1(2014 edition) am already bored with the device. Crap useless apps everywhere!!
