Best new Android and iPhone apps (August 17th - August 22nd)

We're off to another week, and what better way to start it than test a fresh set of new apps? Yes, there are hundreds pouring down in the app store catalogues out there, and that's a bit daunting, but hey, fear now — we dig through them for you!

So, this week, we've got Google's Duo, a cool utility app to set your Android's home button longpress action, an anonymous social network to connect with strangers, and some more interesting offerings. Check them out below, see which ones you like, and — as always — let us know if we missed an awesome new app that should be on this list!

My friends have been using FaceTime and the video quality is good. I tried to find one comparable app on Android but couldn't find one. Is Duo as good as Facetime (if not better)?

The thing that makes FaceTime good, isn't just video quality or connection consistency, or even ease of use and integration - the most important factor is that EVERY iPhone user has it. It also automatically gives you the option to FaceTime when ever you look at the contact info or when you're within a call (if the user has FaceTime). FaceTime is as standard on iOS as regular call app. You don't need to wonder which app the other party is using for video call, if he's signed in, you don't need to send invites, you don't even need to hang up your regular call to switch to FaceTime. FaceTime also has audio only (I use it for international calls). You can FaceTime someone even if they don't know they have it - or never used it - and to them it is the same as answering a regular call. Google needs to pick one of ther video calling services and integrade with androids OS.

Totally. Why is Google so slow now to act?
