Each and every iPhone I have used (5s, 6s and 7) had exactly the same battery percentage in the morning as in the evening (while I slept). Every once in a while they draw as much as 2-3% (in a iOS beta one iPhone drew 5-7%).

First it was clear from the many "real-life" speed tests ran on this years premium smartphones that the iPhone really suffered in the RAM management part of the test. In many cases, the X, for example, was slaughtered, struggling badly to keep apps open and slower to open them up. Yes the iPhone has a better stand-by time. However, this is the least important area of battery life as most if not all modern phones can last an age on standby. What matters is how fast the battery life dies under medium to hard usage, as under easy use most again will easily last through a day under this usage. Under this level of work iPhones batteries die off far faster than comparable Android phones. I have watched so many "real-world" usage battery drain tests and iPhones are usually right at the bottom of these tests. The same results show up on most reviews, Phone Arena being an exception rather than the rule. I have also tested the iPhone 8, 8+ and X against the Note, S8, S8+ and Xiaomi mi 6 and again the iPhones especially the 8 and X do not do well. I take PA's results with a piece of salt, they are not representative of what a user can expect. The problem with iPhones is the batteries are too small. Apple does not seem capable of designing a compact feature packed phone with a larger battery. The fact probably is they can, but want to cut costs and build in obsolescence, so match a small battery that is under specced for the over-clocked chip.

1st Android is all ready better at ram management than iOS The iPhone x and iPhone 8 fail to keep the apps at the background in all speed tests which result in them losing the test in the 2nd round ( which depends on keeping the apps running in the background ) 2nd all real life test with iPhones running the same apps as other Android devices ( s8 , pixel , OnePlus 5t etc ) have shown the iPhones die 1st . All REAL LIFE tests shows that , yes iPhones have great standby time but usage wise they are s**tty as hell , and when you add time to the equation the become even worse after 6 months to 1 year .

@Greenman, I just want to comment regarding overnight discharge. My previous phone, Galaxy S5 used to eat a lot of battery overnight. When I upgraded to iPhone 7 Plus, I was overwhelmed with the overnight battery endurance. Technically no more than 1% decrease. I wanted to show off this to my friends, however, I learnt that latest Android had already caught up in this regard. My friends Galaxy S8, which was just a month newer than my 7 Plus was no different when it comes to overnight standby battery endurance. But after 2 years of usage, the same Galaxy S8 easily beats my phone when it comes to overnight endurance and SOT(2900mah vs 3000). My phone now loses 15% over night and the Galaxy S8 loses 6-7%. So, I guess iPhones standby endurance is just hood when new. And now a Days, stand by endurance of Samsung and Huawei are no different either.

V30 was definitely a huge upgraded in battery life over previous LG flagship. Hope that V30s will come out with S845.

Where does the Mate 10 rank? A shame it was omitted. I would buy that phone over the Mate 10 pro.

Many tech sites should simulate daily use. Read news, read/send emails, take photos, record videos, phone calls, watch videos ( offline, online) , offline/online music, most famous games This is best way to check. I doubt if they do this some phones of the list would even reach 4h SoT.

Sony Xperia XA2 Ultra (12h 8 m) is in the third place after those BlackBerry phones, beaten Huawei Mate 10 Pro. How much Huawei is paying for this kind of advertisement?

Battery life is number one on the list for me when choosing (or not choosing) a smartphone. My professional life demands that I am away from a desk or outlet for extended periods of time, so I need a phone that will last. The latest and greatest apps and features don't mean a thing if your smartphone doesn't have the juice for you to use them. Glad my 2 current devices that I use as primary and secondary have great battery life.

This list is utter Horse Manure. I own a Galaxy S8 and a Note 8, and the S8 battery life is significantly worse than the Note 8. Not that Note 8 has great battery life, but it is significantly better than S8!

There is something seriously wrong with Phonearena's battery life test. Blackberry Keyone, iPhone 8 Plus and Galaxy S7 has the same battery life. And HTC U11's battery life is WAY WORSE than Galaxy S7.

There is something wrong with this site at all. This site is only good about finding leaks and news - however You should take it with a grain of salt.

No ones giving credit on V30 since it's on top on almost every flagships interms of battery endurance. I can attest to that coz I'm using a V30+ and yeah it can last of full day with heavy usage.
