What do they mean when it becomes available? Seems it would be a hardware upgrade and irrelevant at this point?

Well $800 price tag is too high, especially if u want to become a 'ipad' killer.....moto has completely botched up their plans over here; if they really want to catch up with ipad then they seriously need to consider this high price tag,as next gen ipad will launch in few weeks and it will sport some more specs and going by trends of previous year from apple the highend model of nxt gen ipad wll cost same as the highest at the moment nw and ipad1's cost will get reduce by 30-40%...........,.........i was wondering who is the biggeat Apple Fanboy...? But nw i know for sure that biggest apple fanboy is 'Moto' itself, they r so much in love with apple's product that they dont want their products to beat/hit the sales of apple products and so they always keep the cost of their products in higher bracket..... Cmon Moto nw u r not the leader in world of smartphone, nw u r competitor , if u want to stay up with the top companies then be competitive.....

I wonder how long it will be before the $799 gets dropped to $499? My guess is right around the time that the 2nd generation iPad starts shipping. How about May or June of 2011?

Yeah 800 is way too high. Only because it only has 32 gigs of storage. The 64 gb iPad is 700. 830 for the 3G 64gb iPad. So for 30 bucks you can basically dbl the xooms storage and get something with an established name. Big mistake here moto. If moto released a couple different versions differing by capacity like the iPad then it wouldn't be so bad. I know spec wise the XOOM surpasses the iPad but the average consumer will see them side by side and say...hmmm, I can get a 32gb XOOM for $800 or a 32gb 3G iPad for $730. Or a 64gb regular iPad for $700 and just use my wifi at home.

cant argue with that logic, this tag its too much i hope it gets a better prising to become a deal breaker

I personally dont think that price point is too bad, although i would like to see it lower only because im a cheapsake. lol. But comparing it to the 32gb 3g ipad thats $729, $70 dollars will get you what? Well for one youve got cameras in the Xoom, 5mp rear and 2mp front, which the ipad doesnt. Dual core processor, 4g support, hdmi out, and it does have a micro sd card slot. So if I want to later, I can expand it to 64gb total by adding a 32gb micro sd card. If you take into account all those extra things, what else would you expect the price point to be. I for one, am in favor of having the extra things the iPad does not for a few extra bucks, instead of having moto strip the device down to what the ipad is now, just to save a little money.

this must be fake, considering you need to pay a fee for wifi (says under tablet, in fine print) no deal.

"Just as they did with those who purchased the Samsung Galaxy Tab, XOOM buyers at Best Buy will need to purchase at least 1 month of Verizon data through the retailer."

Upgradeable to 4G. The price is high, but of course, because its competitor has an i in front of it, you'll drop your pants for it and take it up the butt just to say the iPad's superior. It's still a 3G tablet. New technology costs money, durr.

Again, you get what you pay for. No video conferencing, no expandable memory, and no 4G capability on the iPad. But, it's got an i in front of it. I guess that makes it superior. And as for the iPad 2 garbage...it's just that...A RUMOR. Get over yourself and stop waiting for what isn't there.
