The front speakers are loud but absolutely flat, no bass response whatsoever from my test and distorts badly when you use equalizer. I prefer the sound on my note 2 by a mile although slightly lower volume, with headphones there's no comparison, Wolfson on note 2 is so much better.

S4 does not have better hardware audio for sure. The equalizer has nothing to do with that.
I think the s4 has better post processing and optimization for the camera but the hardware itself is about equal
Same processor in US( where i live)
i prefer hard Storage but the 32 gigs are the base internal memory which is a pretty large amount so thats not an issue. Plus dropbox gives free 50 gigs of storage for HTC phones anyway. (already way more memory than is going to be used) Battery lasts all day with normal- heavy use and face it, don't we all plug our phones in every night anyway?
The One has a better screen
I will always prefer Sense to the look of Touchwiz but Touchwiz has more features
Overall, i would say it comes down to preference. They're both really good options for phones so i don't understand all the " honestly how could HTC win here?" comments

SOME S4's will have ARGUABLY better hardware audio.
the Qualcomm powered S4's audio hardware is Qualcomm the same as any other Qualcomm powered device.
it does have a better camera in most areas but the UP Camera has it's merits in low lighting conditions and by capturing more detail into less MP is an advantage to those who mainly upload to services like Facebook, Instagram or services that are just gonna downsize the high quality photos from sensors like the S4's 13MP one.
SOME S4's will have faster hardware, every other one will be equally as powerful as phones like the One and nearly every other high end device released in the first half of this year.
true, true, these are trade offs in favor of the S4.

the same way it ALMOST did. by really pushing the envelope of what defines a truly "premium" smartphone. by not having us choose between an over capable Galaxy device but built with cheap plastic or an exquisite feeling iPhone but runs iOS which are clearly regarded as the "premium" experience devices on the market now. in terms of normal needs from a normal person the One has very little concessions.

Was waiting for xperia z until I saw their screen! So disappointed . Htc one would have been my second choice but no sd card! S4 is the most complete and most value for money of all phones right now. Lg? Never even consider or thought about it!

I was looking at the S4 as an upgrade for my note 2, but if most of the features i have already and what i don't will most likely be in a software update soon i'm still struggling with should i switch or just stay...... decisions decisions.....

i can understand why one wouldn't want to upgrade from the Note II to the S4. phones like the Note II and the Droid Razr MAXX HD create very loyal followers from their large batteries and in the Note II's case some fairly useful, exclusive features and the devices coming out in the first half of this year don't really bring good enough bumps to give these things up. i really, really like the One but i wouldn't give up my MAXX HD for one. we'll talk in the second half of this year when it's the X phone and the Note III's turn to steal the show.

I'll pass on the S4 an go for the One.
I can live with two capacitive buttons in place of three but can never go back to a mechanical home button, it is a let down for me.
other point is, I've never had to replace a battery in my phones so removable is moot to me an many others, if your going that route you buy batteries specific to the phone an pack them in your pocket as well need an additional charger where one can get a juice pack an use it on future gear too, so again it's a option but not a end all one.

i agree. I've never replaced my battery either so its not a dealbreaker to have a non-removable battery

I have the HTC One and I am getting the galaxy s4 too for both looks and functionality, Both phones have their up sides and down sides but the S4 has a bit more upsides. Also on the looks front I think they are on par as the s4 looks fantastic

Dafuq. All Samsung fanboys here. HTC One has the worst build quality? Really guys? S4 has the worst build quality, we all know that. It feels cheap and good luck explaining how plastic can ever be better than a Aluminium unibody. You guys are talking about S4 having more processing power? It still LAGS. TouchWiz is ugly and lags the phone like hell. Plus if you want those useless features on too, your battery will be drained before you know it. HTC One scores over S4 where it really matters. Screen, Sound and Build quality. Yes, S4's camera is better in normal usage due to its resolution but in Low Light and Flash photography, its HTC all the way. Battery life is identical, only if you disable all the useless features then S4 may outlive One by an hour at max. S4 is a great phone, but One is better, you'd be a fool to deny it. Peace.
