Benchmark battle: MediaTek's Helio X20 vs. Helio X10 vs. Exynos 7420 vs. Snapdragon 810 and more

The MediaTek Helio X20, with its deca-core CPU and Mali-T880 MP4 GPU, recently was spotted powering up the HTC One A9 on GeekBench. Not surprisingly, the chipset scored very high. With that performance in mind, today we have a series of comparisons showing the MediaTek Helio X20 taking on the previous generation MediaTek SoC, the Helio X10...

If 8 cores are equal cores then it is not much of advantage, but little cores are good at doing job power efficiently. Background processes which don't need to much CPU power can use them. So actually big.LITTLE make sense.

Even Exynos SOCs kicks the butt out of custom core chips. Apples A series were always the underdog of Exynos. Lmao.

Nah Mate Exynos Lagged Behind Apple In Gpu Performance Tho. Cpu Was About The Same This Year But The Years Before Apple's A Was Crushing Exynos.

Why the hell you comparing single core to multi core. Apples os is child's play. Lmfao. A useless platform which only requires single thread to run. Wtf. Lags by 10%. With Android you can root and raise the GPU up to 900mhz. You can't do jackass with IOS, Apple. They don't allow you. You must listen and be a slave to them. Now go listen to whst you can't and can't do.

Why the hell you comparing a 720p screen vs 1440p dumbass. Ip6 with 720p vs 1440p S6. Rotflmfao.

In other words, the chips Samsung is choosing to use could theoretically match Apple's latest iPhones if they were not also driving tons of additional pixels that contribute little to no benefit to users. Think of it as a reasonably powerful engine installed into a monster truck with massive wheels it can barely turn.

Ip6 has A 750p Screen Not 720p Get Your Facts Right LOL And Ios Is The Best Optimized Mobile Os Available And I Might Not Be A Fan Of Jailbreaking But All The Things Android Is Capable Of Doing Can Easily Be Accomplished Using Ios By Jailbreaking. The Resolution Of A Screen Doesn't Matter, But The Real World Performance Does, Don't Be Butt Hurt Be Cause The iPhone's Low Res Screen Significantly Boost It's Gaming Performance Well Above The Rest Of The Competition.

Even jailbroken iPhones don't have decent widgets on the homescreen, nor can it tell what color to give the notification led and I havent seen an iOS app yet that comes close to what Tasker can do

True.... But I Don't Even Use Widgets.

Besides that, I totally agree on screen resolution. I don't want QHD at the expense of framerate, batterylife, etc.

Another iFanboy giving credit to iJunk. Single core is useless on Android. Single core is good for OS with less features. Ios is a joke and is made for dumb people.

I've never seen any mobile chip beat the iPhone in single core performance... If this is legit, then the a9 is going to be a beast. Too bad mediatek doesn't support custom roms

Mediateks have crappy GPUs and X20 is no exception.

Gaming on phones FTW. Faceplam.jpg

I wonder, is the MediaTek which doesn't support custom ROMs, or there are no custom ROMs for MediaTek yet?

Companies are putting presdure on mediatek to release the source code of their Soc... they have already done that partially...

it's because the iphone has 2 big cores instead of 4 little ones. that's why the iphone scores really low in multicore against all high end android phones.

Nvidia had the Denver K1 that beat the A8X in single core performance. But that was on tablets

The Nvidia Denver K1 was the top-performing mobile processor in single-core performance. There are some indications that it's successor, the Nvidia Denver X1, might likewise top everything else in single core performance, but we'll have to wait until it is publicly released and compared to the A9X.

Only Nvidia and Apple had a custom ARM cpu. Apple has the 6 way superscalar, Nvidia 7 way and orginally ARM 3 way. This does account for the high single core scores and you would think the competition would move up the scalars as well.

I am more interested in seeing how core m in mobile and big.LITTLE 4xA72 + 4xA53 based SOCs perform and big improvement in GPU department as well.

There's no big improvement in the GPU department in the X20. Intel Core M is a tablet/notebook pocessor.

I know and I was not talking about X20 wither. X20 is deca core SOC and it has just 2 x A72 cores, manufactured in 28nm process. I would rather be interested in big.LITTLE 4xA72 + 4xA53 based SOCs performance. Anyway, Mediatek is using T880 which is most powerful Mali GPU, but they are not using enough shedder cores (just 4). T880MP8 will work buttery smooth, if someone designs an SOC with one.

Samsung Will Go With That T880MP8 For There Next Soc.

That would make gpu game intresting.

SD620 use 4xA72 + 4xA53, but the performance still below SD8xx level (maybe because low A72 clock)

Its al 28nm soc, if samsung does it on 14nn, they can bump clock frequency a lot.

I do not know how do you know Helio x20 is on 28nm. From what I know it is manufactured in 20nm.

Ohh, it might be then, care to share link?

Sorry. I am not allowed to share a link since I am new in this forum (I do not have enough messages). You can search on google "Helio x20 nm". You will easily find a few results stating 20 nm.
