Asus ZenFone 4 to receive Android 8.0 Oreo update in December

Asus has just confirmed that its latest mid-range smartphone, the ZenFone 4 will receive the highly-anticipated Android 8.0 Oreo update. Although all ZenFone 3 and ZenFone 4 smartphones will eventually get the update, Asus initially stated Oreo will arrive “by the second half of 2018.”

After it pushed ZenUI 4.0 to the ZenFone 4 Max, earlier this week, Asus announced the standard ZenFone 4 (ZE554KL) model will be updated to Android 8.0 Oreo in December. An exact release date hasn't been mentioned, but we're pretty content with the timeframe Asus has given us.

We can safely assume that more ZenFone series phone will get the Android 8.0 Oreo update starting next year, but the order in which these devices will be updated is still a mystery. We suspect Asus will continue to communicate with its customers and let them know when the next ZenFone smartphone will receive the update.

Obviously, the update will first be pushed to unlocked versions of the ZenFone 4, so those who purchased their phones from carriers will probably have to wait a bit longer.
