Are you getting the Amazon Fire Phone?

Amazon is reshaping the notion of what a typical smartphone could be with the just-announced Fire Phone. As this happens to be its first smartphone, it had to make a noticeable entrance, and we have to say it did indeed. Besides the stellar specs, such as a bright, 590-nits IPS-LCD display, peppy Snapdragon 800, 2 GB of RAM, 13 MP OIS camera, and a dual stereo speaker system, we are getting unique features that you can't see on any other phone right now...

Pretty much the whole Fire Series line is over priced, the tablets and now the phone.

It's got some neat tricks (all software-based, I think), but it's not flagship hardware, it's not for my provider of choice (T-Mobile), and I don't want a replacement UI - I want stock Android. I'm currently waiting for Project Ara, and then we'll see. Gonna be like 6-9 months ("69 months?!" "Six to nine months.") before that hits, so I'm glad I'm still happy with my Nexus 5, though I gotta get it back to stock from CyanogenMod, and upgrade to 4.4.3 this weekend. Hopefully a 4.5 or 5 will be forthcoming at Google I/O? This is not a bad phone at all, AFAIK, and it seems like it could be a very good deal for those invested in the Amazon media ecosystem.

No, hell no! I'll keep my Galaxy S4 and wait for the Galaxy Note 4.

Amazon has cranked up the Mechanical Turk to get votes for their lame phone. Now it is up to 180+ votes... still around 88% "no" though.

...which happens to contain the same Krait 400s in 801 and 805, just lower clocked and yeah lower clocked Adreno GPU as well. And if anyone's in the market for an Amazon device, you'd need more processing firepower to do what again???

Ask me in two years when refurbished ones are on Ebay for $99 free-shipped from Hong Kong...

Once you can pave the phone and install Cyanogen on it, maybe $99 is a reasonable price.

Never, never, never getting this phone. What an overpriced utter POS from Amazon. I'd rather play hunger games for OnePlus than buy this garbage phone from Amazon. There's nothing for the customer on this phone. Every single feature is engineered for Amazon's benefit.

Too exclusive and not inclusive of international community that might be interested in services of Amazon...so a big NO of course.

You'd be insane to even think of getting this one.

Actually doesn't look too bad (i mean specs not physical looks). Why all the hate? It's a good start for the company and seems pretty solid on feature set too.

This phone is nothing more that a tool Amazon would give to a slave so the slave can do things that are good for Amazon. Why should someone who is not an Amazon slave have to pay anything for this phone? Why would they even want one?

This should be below -400$.

If it wasn't exclusive to AT&T AND if it included vanilla android (FFS why do they spend hours making an UI that is worse than the original one?) AND if it included google play it would be a nice buy for the price, especially with the bundled Prime membership. Bezos is a genius of management, but he didn't learn a lot from selling devices that require service from someone else, and not his own Amazon, known as "the everything from everyone, anytime (when outside Google and Facebook)" I'm hoping that the next phone from Amazon will be available in all carriers, comes with Stock (or LIGHTLY) modified android...
