Apple's premium HomePod smart speaker is down to its lowest ever price again
Apple might not be relevant enough in the booming smart speaker market to have its global shipment numbers measured by research firms like Canalys, but the HomePod can still be a decent buy... at the right price. After all, Amazon's incredibly popular Echo family lacks a comparable "premium" model, while the Google Home Max is typically just as expensive as a HomePod.

Fret not, bargain hunters, as the best deal yet on Apple's first (and only) smart speaker is back on for a limited time. Originally priced at $349, the Siri-controlled HomePod recently scored a permanent $50 markdown, on top of which Best Buy is adding another $50 reduction until Monday, May 27, at 11:59 pm CT.

That means you can currently get this bad boy in exchange for just $249.99, a special price that was good a couple of times before at a number of major third-party retailers. Praised for its chic design and rich audio quality in our in-depth review last year, the discounted Apple HomePod is available in your choice of white and space gray color options.

While waiting for a sequel that may or may not come by the end of 2019, iFans are unlikely to find a smart speaker on the market better integrated with their iPhones and iPads. The HomePod is specifically designed to "bring out the best in Apple Music", which unfortunately means it won't play nice with any other music streaming services.

Meanwhile, although Siri is arguably not as intelligent or versatile as Alexa or Google Assistant, it can still adequately perform plenty of convenient tasks, from smart home controls to making and receiving calls, delivering weather reports, news updates, and answering any question that might cross your mind.

Of course, the key selling point remains the state-of-the-art sound technology, powered by a whopping seven beamforming tweeters and a 4-inch high-excursion woofer with a custom amplifier. That alone is probably worth your 250 bucks.
