According to Kantar Worldpanel, the popular research company, the global market share of Android has suffered a blow for the quarter that ended, the culprit for which is no one else but Apple, iOS, as well as the hot-selling Apple iPhone 6 and 6 Plus...

This is what happens when a huge company has an absolute support from the media, government, and even president. US = apple monopoly. In Europe both samsung and apple have equal rights, and apple is far from dominating the market. GL doing business in the USA if you're an outsider.

Because of the ability to buy a cheap (and in most cases, terrible) Android phone from Walmart (the largest retailer in the US) for under $50 off contract.

I have never seen anyone buy a phone at wal-mart. EVER!

Right. Walmart sells phones because no one buys them there.

Product placement paid for by apple in most cases. Computers and phones are almost always apple in tv shows, but a pleasant surprise when they aren't, especially when they seem to belong (e.g. underfunded police department using an old PC with a CRT monitor versus a brand new iMuck 27") or seem greatly out of place. Yet if apple actually had that kind of market, Microsoft would be trying to form a merger with Google and Sony to combat the fruit menace, but since that's not happening... Also, this data is only from November 2014 sales, not the market as a whole.

What the hell is China OS? Dragging communist into the topic again? Now, I don't support communist, but you always drag "communist" into a tech site. Since you hate China so much just because of communist, I hope China rise even more, so you can drop your jaws and shut up. If you really like communist, you should go stay in North Korea.

If you don't support the communist, why do you want them to rise? Besides China, I don't give a damn which country is going to rule the world. You may know how bad effect of the communist that China spread once they become the superpower, right? Their propaganda is going to be terrible, everything about democrazy, speech, freedom,... would be censored... This is a doom for our world! North Korea is even worse, but it's no treat to the world since it's too weak.

I see now that you are just a TROLL.. wow,, Nothing going on in the world for you so you must be bored.. China already is a superpower.. but it will take at least another 15-20 years to overtake the US.. regardless, the fact that you are talking about a communist nation and who is going to take over the world or not in this post or any post, is just RETARDED..

Calling other a troll without properly proof just makes urself look so low... I took China into account becos China is actually developing their own os named China OS. I don't hate China, but i deteste the Communist goverment of China. U know how bad it is when a whole country is brainwashed by an evil propaganda to maintain their power? U not hurt becoz u're Chinese people. There is no wonder why Taiwan fight so hard to escape evil China, and I strongly support Taiwanese people for not reuniting with the communist nation. I also hope that one day, North Korea would collapse and reunite with the South and become one Democracy of Korea.

Apple is their national pride, no wonders. On top of that, it's cheap 700 usd, while in EU it's easily 750 eur for the base model. Even Obama steps in to save apple when they got raped by sammy in the court. Samsung should be glad that the US government lets them sell their products there at all.

$750? Try $818 as of yesterday at apple's uk site. The most expensive one is $1195!

Android has improved tremendously over the past year or so. It used to be a buggy mess. If pressed I'd pick iOS only because iPhones are pretty much the only smartphones that hold any significant value for resale/trade-in.

I bought my note for $100 cheaper and after 2 yrs I'm going to sell it for 100 bucks cheaper than my iphone that cost me 100 more. So I don't really see your point. You get roughly the same value out of these phones. Yes, you sell your iphone for more, but you paid more in the first place.

Perhaps you sold the iPhone for less than you should have. Because if you go by percentages, you should get a higher percentage of your money back selling a iPhone then a Android phone...

Not really. Actually I bought my note for sth like $180 cheaper than my iphone. Both brand new in sealed boxes. The difference between a 2yr old iphone and a note is about 100-150 dollars depending on the condition. Sorry, but a used iphone 5 costs no more than 350-400usd in my country, note 2 250-300. So actually my note has lost less value than an iphone.

Apple came strong this year, and it shows in the gains they've had. Tim Cook, is slowly opening things up, and that's a long time coming. RIP Steve, but it's Tims company now, good job Mr. Cook.

I agree. Tim is definitely doing a good job moving Apple forward and is slowly but surely moving out of Steve Job's shadow. The one area I think he is going to have to work on is quality control. There were a few road bumps last year with the software and hardware that they need to address with upcoming releases but I am pretty sure they will.

Tim sucks. It's easy to run a company that Steve Jobs made to be an embodiment of the American way of life. Apple is a religion in the US. I'd like to see how he would do as a ceo of blackberry or hp. It's easy to be a ceo of a company so popular that people are willing to buy everything from you - even products with questionable built quality.

Apple have come strong every year. Let's face it, iphone has been the best selling phone in the US since its first launch.
