Apple says purple tint on Apple iPhone 5 pictures is the camera's normal behavior

In a manner suggesting the way that the late Steve Jobs told Apple iPhone 4 users that they were holding the phone the wrong way, allowing the left-handed death grip to cut signal strength on the phone, Apple told iPhone 5 users that the strange purple tint seen in the corners on some photos is normal...

I can see it now.... People grouped outside the Apple store at my local mall learning how to take a picture with their new iPhone 5. It will be epic! Apparently it now takes a Genius to use an Apple product.

"we recommend that you angle the camera away from the bright light source when taking pictures. The purple flare in the image provided is considered normal behavior for iPhone 5′s camera." So Apple want to say that, user's are taking pictures in wrong way........ Oh Great Apple please teach us how to take the snaps.............

You get a thumbs up for the info. I will just look at it as a side effect, con of whatever type of lens or hardware Apple is using for the camera. Like Amoled screens.....can have black splotches, can have a blue tint, can show pixels. I still like Amoled screens over LCD....but it has cons.

advice to all iphone users the best way to use ur iphone 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 ....... any model is just keep it in the house and buy a decent phone.just like that beleive me all your iproblems are solved. bcos if you r going to complain to the manufacturer of iphone about the so called premium products u get 2 type of ans. 1. thats the normal behaviour of iphones. 2. they way you handle the phone is not correct.

um...does Nokia, for example explains to users how to hold their phones in order to do a proper photography? Does Samsung do it? Or HTC? Hmm. No. So apple...are you REALLY trying to convince anybody that this purple tint is something NORMAL?? If yes, then your products don't meet any quality standards. I mean, they know how to set up a marketing campaign and sell over 5 000 000 units in one week...but then it turns out that they don't even know how to explain some glitches in their newest product.

zoinks! You know, just after we got some good feelings from Cook's apollogy letter, they go back to standard operating procedure. "purple flare is a feature, not a defect!"

I had to reread part of that to make sure I hadn't misread it. "angle the camera away from bright light source." I've just turned my desk light on and taken a photo with my 3GS directly at the light bulb from about 2 inches away and it's fine. A big orange/yellow circle. No purple at all. What the iPhone 5 is producing is not normal.

Could anyone else picture what reviewers would do to a phone from say HTC, Motorola, or especially Samsung if light leaked out of the side, the back scratches itself in the packaging, if photos and movies had a very noticable purple hue to them, they made a decision to do mapping themselves and wasn't even close to accurate? But we get articles, "Despite map problems, iPhone Still Selling Well." I'd just like to see some fairness spread across to everything. PA could've took all this into account and rated it a 6, and that's being generous.

Exactly. iDevices are held to a higher standard, everyone is copying when issues pop up for iDevices, they try to get explained away or lessened. No phone, OS is perfect.....contrary to what some believe. If a software update fixes it, fine. But...its still an issue that needed a fix.

At this point Apple needs to be very careful they don't follow down the road of another once popular, now almost extinct line of phones.....Blackberry. Blackberry continued with business as usual for too long, and look where they are. I do honestly want Apple to man up and show us just how good they can be, but if they continue down the road they are on, disaster will likely follow. I want Android and iOS to battle it out for as long as they can, but this does not bode well for Apple, from my point of view.

"Normal behavior" - Translation: We can't figure out how to stop it. Therefore, it is a "feature."

apple probably patented this inovative feature so other companies can not use it or they will get sued.

Why don't they just blame it on Sony? Sony made the sensor so they wouldn't have a very hard time convincing everyone it was a flaw on their side.

Apple you are sooo coooool. Your phone is like the coooolest thing! It comes out of the box looking roughed up for my macho self. It also has an extra flashlight coming out of the top for my extra viewing. WIFI? I like your attitude. I work when I want to too! And as for that camera of yours... A purple filter to blur out the light. Yeah, I didn't want that bright light shining in my pics. And if I want to go somewhere I know your maps will bring me to a cliff so I can see the beautiful view. I didn't need to go to that interview anyway. Remember? I work when I want to...

You seem to didnt mind when that article about Jelly Bean addressing lag in Android was done. You and a few others like you had a field day. I take it you have a problem with most of the recent iPhone 5, iOS news thats seen in a negative light. Cant have it both ways....wait til an Android article about malware pops should make you feel better. Or if Samsung has to pay the settlement to Apple, or they lose trying to sue Apple for LTE. When writing cant all be positive. For Android, Apple, RIM, MS, etc. Just take the good with the bad...

I dont think Apple has come up with a legitimate answer...THey need to explain it properly to the customers...the problem is not general is what bugs me...if only some users have problem then why is apple releasing documents ? Apple is not the same after steve jobs!!
