Apple says Samsung set a patent timebomb when the 3G standard was created to demand "excessive" royalties

Samsung is suing to stop the sales and marketing of Apple's gizmos, including the iPhone 5, in the Netherlands, but Apple argues it has sneaked in some of its own IP in the 3G standard, so it can patent it later and sue...

Yes, I am just skimming at this point. Here is what I think is an actual valid new point: Q: So if Samsung put in IP in to the 3GH standards as a time bomb, why is it blowing up now? Q: Why is it not blowing up in the face of all the other manufacturers that MUST be infringing on Samsung's Patents [if Apple is] just by confirming to the 3G standards by using 3G technology? Most likely Answer: Because Samsung most likely never had the intent to use those patents as a time bomb and is now whipping them out as a response to the pissing contest Apple started and is winning since it effectively achieved the banning of some Samsung products in some locations. Samsung is not pissing on anyone else with this suit [as far as what was reported], so this is a direct response to the escalating war Apple started with Samsung. Since Apple is acting hypocritical, I do not even care if Apple has the legal right to achieve what they did. I just want them to fail to shut the fan boys up and get a piece of their own pie they have been shoving in other manufacturer’s faces.

I hope Apple loses this so bad it would serve them right, it was also be so ironic for them to lose this case when they were suing Samsung over false design allegations. Just to have to pay them for each Iphone sold love it!!!

Samsung open fires blindfolded, lol. Good luck Samsung. And of course, as far as android fanboys are concerned. Samsung already won, lol. And when later reports reveal that they didn't, android fanboys just troll around as if they haven't said anything, or, come up with lame excuses, lol.

You're right, the LG Prada looks nothing like the iPhone. It actually looks almost as different as the Galaxy S looks from the iPhone. I've been following these lawsuits with a keen interest for quite some time now. I agree, it's not all Apple's fault; these companies are all after eachother, most of the time. The thing is, most companies are after another company for infringing a patent, or other minor things—and then there's another company, claiming the same about yet another company. The only difference is Apple: they are suing the most people over the most things (some reasonable, some outlandish). Over the time of my interest in persuing these matters, it's quite simple that Apple is unhealthy for the continental development, production, and implementation of certain technologies, designs, etc. (and no, you can't patent a shiny rectangle—get over yourselves). That being sad, I have no problem with the iPhone. I think it's a spectacular device, and I suggest it to many of the people who ask for my advice. Personally, I own an Android device. As a technological enthusiast, the iPhone simply does not offer what I want. As well, they are updated outrageously slow. I prefer to be on the cutting-edge of phone technology. But nonetheless, Apple for sure makes one hell of a beautiful phone. Personally, I don't throw my phones against the wall though, so plastic is far superior—it's lightweight, and it's almost 2012; we don't need bulky phones anymore. I saw Apple throw the first unreasonable stone here (the shiny rectangle looked too much like one of the other 487 shiny rectangles being sold? or what, the phone icon looked too much like a phone? maybe it was the horizontal app scrolling? or the, uh... s**t, that's all there really was), and somehow succeed, albeit minorly so far. Personally, I would love Apple to get exactly what they love to dish out to everyone else. Go get 'em, Samsung's lawyers. P.S. This site has, without any doubt in mind, the most unintelligent iPhone vs Android wars I have ever seen. Put some thought into it, guys. From both sides (although, seriously, LOL @ the Apple fanboys).

@ Rawkin. As much as I hate to admit it, you are absolutely right. Many of us have tried a truce coupled with adult conversation and civil debates, but that didn't last very long. (Doesn't matter who's fault it was). But I've also seen this war played out with the same rhetoric on every tech website. I just don't think it will ever change.

wow.. we need to not let minor post in here... @ Jamez please go get your parents permision next time...

Assuming Jamez is indeed a minor, I would argue against that. If you're over the legal age in your country, and he is under... well, I thought the school system was bad now—clearly it was a lot worse a few years back. Don't iPhone's have dictionaries? Spell-check? ... s**t, that's surprising. I thought Apple knew their clientele.

You seem to talk a lot of s**t about Apple for an unbiased person.

92. Rawkin unregistered

I don't feel that I talk a lot of s**t about Apple, I merely convey the truth. A sad fact, however, is that the truth about Apple IS s**t.

according to taco, u must be too poor to own an iphone.. i just think your too dumb for even an iphone, you probably found an apple logo sticker and put it on your phone, took off all widgets and wallpapers, and just made every screen a list of icons.

Lol I'm terrified Jamez, but I think I may be safe. I have an iPhone so I'm protected against malware.

Laughable facts about Apple fanboys: 1) They think malicious code can harm everything but their device. 2) ... Do we need a two? That's a big enough joke as it is.

better phone in 2 weeks what the iphone 5...whats the rumoured specs lets see dual core-android had it ages ago bigger screen-android had it ages a go fake 4g or lte-android had it ages ago nfc-android had it ages ago voice control-android had it ages ago slide down notification-android had it AGES ago etc etc etc so what exactly is this ''better'' phone bringing to the table apart from just playing catchup

157. gallitoking

Posts: 4721; Member since: May 17, 2011

the phrase playing catchup is over used.. why... because ... Android ..moves soo fast that not even Android can catch up with Android.. most Android phones are still stuck in Froyo, and Android is about to released ICS... at that pace T- Bolts fans will never even taste ICS... so as you can see Android can catch with Android...
