Sure Apple will make tons of profit on iphone 6S. But that's not the point. It's about Apple stock valuation and how that will be impacted should iphone 6S sales drop year over year compared to iphone 6. It's no earth shaking event to most people, but there news of iphone sales declining year over year will be an absolute tsunami/earth quake for Apple brass, as Apple's revenue and profit depends singularly on iphone sales. Stock market will have no mercy on Apple brass should iphone sales drop and keep dropping year over year, and they fail to conjure up next super hit product to replace iphone.

Have to remember all depends on how these numbers are counted, where do you have that number from? if its 'shipped' numbers which it seems to often be , it doesn't really tell anything.

I guess 66 million were made up. 1 million is more like it, with that logic. Regardless, #1 selling smartphone model in the world. Weak.

huh? I said we don't know, I never said numbers weren't real, but its been proven time and time again on both sides of the whole android / apple thing that they pad their numbers?

Who cares, it's platform contest between Apple and Android. If Apple thinks it can please everyone with just one or two phone models, then they should be happy to have Henry Ford with his Model T as new leader. Apple brass still doesn't realize how helpful they were in creating the Android revolution.

I expect pre-orders will go up every year and here is why. By the time the iPhone is released in some markets, its already 6 months old and you may as well order the next model. This happens with Samsung too.But when Sammy releases the S, it is usually available in more countries right away vs those who get it 6 months later.

As a iPhone 6S owner I said from the beginning that Apple will not beat last year numbers. Only the iPhone 7 has that potential. I'm actually surprised that they had so many preorders for the 6S model.

That was due to China this yea being included, last year if you add them. Both up it was 30 million, they down 17 million total preorders for the included country's on when they came out this year, they just tried to mislead the press

But why would Cook & company try to mislead press? It seems pretty futile, since truth about iphone 6S sales will be out sooner or later.

67 millions for one quarter!!! a problem many phonemakers like Sony or HTC would like to have!

It's a problem when you don't meet expectations. It makes you think: "Is the decline a trend"?

Exactly All that matters for Apple is - will iphone sales increase or decrease? As Apple depend singularly on iphone for revenue and profit, and stock market expects iphone sales to go to the moon and beyond until... forever. Declining iphone sales year over year in absolute number would be disastrous, especially for Apple brass stock options.

So much for the record breaking pre-orders. I know someone else who had this issue too. Samsung. When the GS5 was released it also had pre-order records over the S4, but then after all the reviews which were poor even though the S5 was a much more solid upgrade over the S4 vs the iPhone 6S is over the 6; the sales started to fall fast. But hey Sammy still sold over 60M+ and still counting as the phone is still selling. So I guess Apple will sell their usual 150M smartphones for this year? I'm actually surprised because its only been just over a month of sales. Maybe everyone is waiting for the holiday? Come on, I am sure ifans can come up with more excuses. LET's HEAR THEM!!! NO ONE MAKES MONEY WITH IOS!!!! So here is a bet. I bet the iPhone 7 will have 32GB of storage, will have a 16MP camera, will have A10X chip on the plus so they can claim this is why the 6S Plus didnt have splitscreen and iOS X will have all the things iOS9 didnt have. I also predict, iOS X will need a patch with 5 days of its release to 10.1, and that by the time iOS 11 comes, iOS X will have the same amount of releases as OS X. What are we at now 10.11 for OS X now? So iOS X 10.11 for 11 patches. /(joke)(sarcasm)(trolling)(nick-picking)

Meaning? After the orginal Galaxy S appear, it took Samsung only 3 years to sell over 200M phones in a single year. How long did it take Apple? After the release of the original Galaxy S, it took Samsung 4 years to sell 300M phones per year and they still have that number. Apple is 8 years in and still hasnt even broke 250M yet. What is YOUR point.

Apple doesn't sell 100 models a year, they sell two new ones and one to two old ones. How long will it take Samsung to generate 200+ million sales with two new phones a year? Apple is 8 years in and Samsung still hasn't released a phone that has outsold the competing iPhone. What is YOUR point?

Samsung doesn't sell 100 models of phones. Please talk to me when you can actually make a reasonable point and no some fanboi BS rant. Yes Samsung makes phones for many markets. So? Why is this such a problem. Car companies make cars for many market. Some target specific markets You know why Microsoft beat Apple? Because Microsoft went after everyone Apple didn't want as customers. You know why Android is so successful? Because google went for customers Apple didn't want as customers. You fools think because you have an iPhone, that you are on top of the world. Poor peopel need phones too. Old peopel need phones too. Parents wnat to buy kids phones too. Not everyone on the planet needs a 4700 phone. so why cant they have a phone that they want at a proce they are willign to pay? Samsung yes I agree to a point, makes to many phones. They could slim them down which I have said amny times in case you missed it before. I have specifically stated. Samsung could simply make 3 phones in each segment. 3 cheap phones, 3 mid-ranged and 3 on the top end. The Galaxy brand should be top and mid-ranged, while they can just have Samsung branded phones on the low end. With less phones, it means less overhead, higher profits and they can increase quality because they could focus on less models. Until then Samsung prefers to make as many phones for as mnay markets as they can no mater the costs because Samsung isnt about profits. They are about having Samsung whereever no matter the cost. because when you are a big household name, you become a real brand and not some "fantastic" one trick pony product maker where all your eggs are in one basket. If Samsung stopped selling phones it would still be in business for years. If Apple stopped selling iPhone they would die in less than 5 years. The same way the Mac almost killed them. if Apple didn't have the iPhone, iPod sales would have killed them. Why? Because Apple throws all their eggs in one basket with every single selling product they make.

Did Microsoft beat Apple? Is that the same way Google is beating Apple? At the end of the day, all three are publicly traded corporations, and you know what Microsoft and Google wish for that Apple would not want to reciprocate? They wish they were Apple. They would both trade every point of marketshare for Apple's financials, and anyone in the hierarchy of either company that did NOT want that would be given a pink slip from the respective boards.

You must be buddies with CEO at Microsoft and Google to know such information about what Google and Microsoft want. What else did they tell you about their secret longings?

What's your point with this "2 models" nonsense? Would Apple sell a billion phones and make a trillion dollars with 100 models? If so, I think investors would start having apple crank out new models. Iphones are status symbols and "one size fits all" is what keeps people in the club and gets the sales. If Apple made more models, they would just canibalize themselves. The iPhone 5c didn't increase overall iphone sales, the iPad mini definitely didn't increase overall iPad sales. Continuing to bring up this "100" models argument is a fallacy.

Irrelevant. Who cares if Toyota has 100 models vs Tesla which has only one model. Selling more cars is the bottom line. Android is great in that it has hundreds of phone model to please everyone's tastes, while Apple is forcing people to use only couple of different models. Android it's your way, but with Apple it's Apple's way or highway.

Why do you get so crazy? Lol... Do you know how insane you sound? Not your "facts" or opinions, just the way you react in every single Apple article lmfao. What a child.

As for you? Sure attck me all you like, doesn't bother me. You are free to your opinion and how you express them. But if you're coming at me come correct. I like Apple, but I also dislike them. I still have in my closet all my origina Apple II system, which includes and original Apple I, the Apple IIe, IIc and IIGS and my old awesome still working ImageWriter which is still to me the best color printer ever made. But that doesn't change the fact that now Apple has far more money, but still yet short changes its customers. How the hell do you really a brand new phones, who's camera can't even beat competition who sells less phones than you for one model? Samsung has an R&D budget that dwafts Apple's year profits and it shows in their products. After all for $599 for the S6 looks how much better it is now being 8 months old vs the iPhone 6S which just came out and it costs $649. What Apple has going for it is locking you fools in after you spend so much money in their ecosystem, you can't afford to leave. With Windows and Android, you dont have to stay with anyone brand who screws you over. You move on and still have what you bought. Apple's soc-all huge advantages are also its biggest disadvantages. if you all got on Apple forums, or wrote Apple and talk to them liek you do us when we knock Apple, maybe they would do a much batter job. Example, the S5 IMO was a much more significant upgrade over the S4 vs the iPhone 6S over the 6. But Samsung was based into hell my every blog site, yet Apple does this EVER year since the 3GS and hasnt been bashed once. How do you release a phone 2 years in a row and not even have a camera take better pictures vs the previous? Samsung was based because the S5 still had a 1080p display liek the S4, even though it was a newer better 1080p display. Apple goes and use the exact same display in last years model and no one says nothing. Samsung spends money and has made ever S model look different from the previous for a phone that comes out once a year. Apple makes a phone once a year and uses the exact same phone for 2 or 3 years before changing it. You all never complain. So since you don't, Apple has no reason to do better, while us complain fans on Android side so complain and we get results. Its nto about having the most money, its about what you do with it. Money sitting in a bank does nothing for no one. Money being spent helps everyone or someone. Corporations are suppose to make money. I refuse to give my money to one that isnt giving me something to make me want to buy their products. In this case I would prefer to have an iPhone, but I'm not going to be stupid like you all. if I can buy an iPhone that does what I need for what it costs, I will buy one; if not I buy something else. Just like I do when it comes too food, cars, clothes and other similar items.

And consider this. Samsung for example is using an OS that isnt even theirs, yet Galaxy devices have far less problems vs iOS. IOS as a fact crashes more apps than all available support and non-support versions of Android COMBINED. That is a fact. IOS6 was the last final and best most stable version of iOS. After they gave it, its candy coated colors with iOS7, the quality of IOS has nose-dived. Its a laggy mess even on the recent iPhone models. We purchased our usually 15 upgrades of the iPhone. Everyone mostly has the 6S with a couple with the Plus. Our IT guys are complaining about how apps we use in-house are crashing and now all have to be reworked. 3rd party apps we use from our vendors that we use specifically to retrieve information from their servers have stopped working for no reason. They work fine in iOS8, now dont work in iOS9. The phones are laggy. Even when you first turn on one, when the OS comes up the animation of the icons appearing is very laggy. Its worse than Windows. For an OS you all claim is so optimized to run on slower hardware, yet score great in benches, does poorly in real life usage Several people here hate that even got the upgrade that they didnt even need in the first place. We deserve betetr from a company hording over $200BN in cash, and we are only getting better stuff from companies not hording nearly as much. THINK ABOUT IT BECAUSE ITS A FACT...NOT AN OPINION>
