Apple reported this afternoon that sales of the iPhone during its fiscal third quarter amounted to 40.4 million units. That figure barely topped Wall Street's predictions that Apple would ring up 40 million iPhone handsets in the period. On a sequential basis, the 40.4 million phones sold was down from the 51.2 million units purchased in the fiscal second quarter...

IKR. In other news, Samsung sells another 80M phones this quarter and will go one to sell 350M+ for 2016. Last year they sold like what, 320M phones? Wow! 80M+ phones ever quarter since 2011 on average. Apple finally sells it one billionth phone. While Samsung is more than 1/3 into selling it 2billionth phones. 22M - 2010 94M - 2011 214M - 2012 316M - 2013 312M - 2014 325M - 2015 81M Q1 - 216 Samsung to sell 350M phones this year. Samsung has sold 1.2Billion phones. Yet Apple has been selling phone since 2007. Even though Samsung was selling phones before then, they only became the OEM to watch After the Galaxy S was announced. The only phone in the world which has rival iPhone sales from a non-US company. Phonearena isn't going to praise an outsider which is fine. I mean, who would want a headline that reads: "Another American pioneer company, has lost its top position and market to an Asian juggernaut."

All they se is look, Apple sold 40M phones in a slow quarter and they too 90% of the profits because they sell a $200 phone for as much as $1500 in some markets. And that Apple is the greatest thing since printed money. The Apple car is gonna beat Tesla. Oh and did you seem tem launch the iPhone into space. Apple really knows how to spend its money. Man did you see how that rocket flew and the stage separation. ALL GENIUS TO THE ALMIGHTY FINE APPLE!!!!

Why this article is in total contradiction to the Verge. The Verge said today the APPL shares are slumping with 15% drop in sales figures! Currently they are trading at $96.67. From where this $102?

I just never understand how stock prices respond to good news that bad new. Apple sold 7M+ phones less than this time last year. That's good news? When Samsung had a small decline, everyone was up in arms about they are losing to Apple and they are going to die. Yet on average, they still sold 80M phones per quarter. Between 2014 and 2015, Samsung only lost 13M total sales for the full year. Apple has lost 20M+ sales of the iPhone in just 2 quarters year over year. Apple is doing good, but they are not doing great. We expect hat iPhone sales are slower do to how close it is to the new model. However, the iPhone 7 isn't all that new and I honestly don't think its gonna even slow down the sales fall. A lack luster model, lack luster features and repeating the same model for a 3rd year. Tim Cook assumes 5s owners would upgrade. Why? They could have had the 6 or 6S by now. Aren't these the people who rather have a smaller phones? Oh wait, they could have bought the iPhone SE. THEY DIDNT. In fact right here on PA, the polls showed that those that did buy the SE, wished they had gotten the 6/6S which would have made more sense. Right now, unless the iPhone sales pick up with the new model, sales will drop below 200M phones, after they finally sell 200M phones for the first time last year. How is Apple selling 40M phones this quarter, a sign for people to by Apple stock when the sales are down from last year? Don't see the correlation of stocks and sales.
