0. phoneArena posted on 03 Aug 2012, 08:17

If a day comes when the iPad Smart Case gets even smarter, it might look like what is pictured in this Apple patent filing. What's being described is a smaller, secondary display present on the accessory, either occupying some or its entire inner surface...

This isn't being innovative...This is called having an idea, innovating would be if they actually could make this. Everyone can have ideas, how about a holographic phone? Am I innovative for coming up with it? No, the one who can create it is...

Too bad Apple didn't invent the Retina display. Credit needs to go to the OEM's that create the things possible for Apple to have phones and tablets.

Didnt know Apple made the Retina Display or helped develop it.

And last time I checked.....displays on older Win Mo and Android phones had higher screen res than the iPhone 3GS. Would you consider them innovative? If so, than my apologies.

And its funny that screen res higher than the iPhone 4 is overlooked by Apple, iPhone fanboys. But folks wanna talk about the Retina Display like it was some great thing. Especially when alot of fanboys said screen res higher than what was on the 3GS was unnecessary.

I guess it takes Apple to use it to make something necessary.....

How about the Sony's clamp-shell tablets with two displays? They are simply a tablet with hard secondary display - please grant them a patent.

How stupid and obvious should be an idea for Apple to patent it?

Most likely, Sony allready patented it. But it was not that much of success.

The difference was Sony made it as a niche product that very few people wanted or saw a use for. Remember the Acer iconia tablet? It had a touchscreen with a hinge and was just awful. If Apple implements the idea better they should get praised for the implementation not the orginality of the idea. Knowing Apple they will make this the new normal on tablets, it may not seem right but companies use or improve on other companies ideas all the time.

Someone else creates the technology and apple runs and gets some patent on how to use it.

If Sony uses this, will they get sued?

Sony: I have this in my PSP vista
Apple: Sorry, Sony's is used to play games, not used to control music or video, hence u copied me. Prepare to pay me money!!!!

Patenting system must be change.

1. You can only patent true technology. Not just design.
2. Patent must be granted to tech that you invented and not just prototype, idea or tech that redesigned. It must be existing new tech.
3. The tech to be patent must be illustrated every last detail and how the tech works..

I think you mean "kickstand" because a kickstarter is for motorcycles and people trying to start businesses.
